HBHW vs PERW Match Prediction - Nov 21, 2020

The absence of Sophie Devine in the previous two matches for the Perth Scorchers has proven to be a big problem. They are fourth on the league table right now but need to win one or even both of their remaining matches to be sure of a place in the playoffs.

They are up against the Hobart Hurricanes, one of the weakest teams of WBBL 2020, but yet not one that you can just write off. This is the beauty of the WBBL. Every team has a chance of winning.

Can the Perth Scorchers get back to winning ways or will the Hobart Hurricanes spoil another party?

Hobart Hurricanes vs Perth Scorchers WBBL 2020 is going to be played at the North Sydney Oval, Sydney on the 21st of November 2020.

HBHW vs PERW Team Previews

Hobart Hurricanes Women

The Hurricanes were put to the sword by the Stars in their previous match. We do not think that the Hurricanes did anything particularly wrong but they were just not good enough to win. There is no doubt that the Hurricanes need something special to win this game as well.

Rachel Priest is the player that can provide that something special at the top of the order. She has been in very good batting form and has shown the ability to hit the big scores this season.

Support in the batting has been lacking, though, as other players like Chloe Tyron, Naomi Stalenberg, or Nicola Carey have not been able to step up.

Belinda Vakrewa and Cloe Tyron are expected to lead the bowling attack. The absence of Hayley Matthews in the previous match was a big blow to the bowling and the Hurricanes are going to struggle to contain the Scorchers if she is not in the playing eleven once more.

Perth Scorchers Women

Sophie Devine has missed the previous two matches and the Perth Scorchers missed her dearly. She is their best batter and the best bowler on most days so losing her is a double blow. The extent of her injury is not clear and even though the management insists that we have not seen the last of her this season, we don’t think she is going to be available for this match either.

Amy Jones, the England international, was welcomed into the team to replace Devine but she did not have the impact needed. Beth Mooney and Chloe Piparo have to carry the bulk of the load of scoring until Devine is back.

The lack of batting depth in the Perth Scorchers is a big concern at the moment.

Sarah Glenn picked up four wickets to boost her confidence ahead of this crucial clash while Taneale Peschel and Heather Graham have been pretty good with the ball as well. Overall, the Perth Scorchers bowling looks to be in better touch than that of the Hobart Hurricanes.

HBHW vs PERW Toss Prediction

Both teams would like to bat without any pressure and then try to defend it. That has been their preferred mode of playing in WBBL 2020 so far.

Pitch and Conditions

The pitch at the North Sydney Oval is very flat and good for batting. The ball is going to come on to the bat a bit slow but that is nothing that is too different from the other venues. There is nothing in the surface for any kind of bowler.

A score of around 140 is going to be hard to chase down.

HBHW vs PERW Betting Tips

We are going to go with the experience of Beth Mooney in this match and back the Perth Scorchers. No doubt, the Scorchers are immensely more beatable without Sophie Devine but we think Mooney could help them scrape through.

Bet on the Perth Scorchers to win.
