This is going to be the second match that both Sydney Thunder and the Hobart Hurricanes play this weekend. By the time of this writing, their first match has not been completed, however, we have a very good idea of what to expect from both the teams at this point in time.
So far, the Hobart Hurricanes have won just one match of the three that they have completed. In all likelihood, they would have lost another by the time this one gets underway. Sydney Thunder is unbeaten and has looked like the best team in this year’s WBBL.
It could have easily added another win to its record before this match as well!
Hobart Hurricanes vs Sydney Thunder WBBL 2020 is going to be played at the Hurstville Oval, Sydney on the 8th of November 2020.
It was good to see Rachel Priest and Naomi Stalenberg get some runs under their belt in the match against the Melbourne Renegades. These are solid performers that have remained in the shadows of their previous teams.
We are not sure they have what it takes to lead a side to WBBL glory, though.
The batting for the Hurricanes is pretty thin after them and they quickly need to get Hayley Matthews in some run-scoring form as well. The Hurricanes are up against the strongest batting team of the WBBL so far and it is going to need a lot of runs from its top-order to compete.
As things stand now, we just don’t see it happening.
The bowling was led by Nicola Carey and Belinda Vakarewa in the previous match. Hayley Matthews also took two wickets, something that is going to give her a lot of confidence going into this next match.
The Hurricanes played to their best in their previous completed match. We just don’t think that is going to be good enough against a team like Sydney Thunder.
Naomi Stalenberg, Rachel Priest, Hayley Matthews, Nicola Carey, Chloe Tryon, Corinne Hall, Sasha Moloney, Erica Kershaw, Amy Smith, Brooke Hepburn, Belinda Vakarewa.
Having the highest run-scorer of the WBBL and the highest wicket-taker too in your playing eleven is a sign that things are going well. Currently, there is very little that Sydney Thunder needs to worry about.
Its batters are scoring runs by the truckloads and getting them very quickly as well. The bowling has been led by Samantha Bates and Heather Knight, both players that are known to make the most of their good form.
Now that Rachel Haynes is scoring runs freely as well, the strength of this Sydney Thunder team appears to be far more than what the Hobart Hurricanes are going to be able to handle.
The team just needs to remember doing the basics correctly and not get overconfident. Things can change quickly in a T20 match and they have to be aware of that. The experience in the team, however, means that such an oversight is unlikely to happen.
Rachel Trenaman, Tammy Beaumont, Heather Knight, Rachael Haynes, Phoebe Litchfield, Sammy Jo Johnson, Tahlia Wilson, Hannah Darlington, Lauren Smith, Shabnim Ismail, Sam Bates.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to bat first. The pitch is expected to get a bit slower and scoring runs could be more difficult in the second inning. The impact of the toss is not going to be massive, though.

The rain is expected to stay away and we should get an uninterrupted contest between these two teams. The pitch has been good for batting and nothing should change for this match either. The bowlers are going to have to rely on their lines and length to be effective as the surfaces have not been in their favor so far.
A score of around 140 is a good total batting first.
We think Sydney Thunder is the team to back in this contest. No matter what happens in the matches that take place on the 7th, the base of the Sydney Thunder team is far better than what the Hobart Hurricanes have. Such quality is not going to stay down for long.
Bet on Sydney Thunder to win.
