IND vs AUS Match Prediction - Mar 01, 2023

India and Australia will go head to head in the third match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy with India already 2-0 ahead. The scorecards may suggest that India has dominated the first two Tests but there have been large parts where Australia has gone toe to toe with them. The difference so far can probably come down to India's relentlessness and being one of the best-ever teams in home conditions.

Is it any surprise then that the odds on offer are slightly shorter than what we would have ideally liked to see? Australia is going to make at least a couple of changes and we may see one from India as well. Let us have a look at what could happen.

Match prediction and cricket betting tips for India vs Australia 3rd Test Match 2023. The match will be played at the Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore from 1st March 2023.

IND vs AUS Team Previews

India

India goes into this match holding all the aces. Its spin-trio has been all over Australia and even the fast bowlers have performed much better. The impact that Mohammad Shami and Mohammad Siraj have had on the matches so far should not be underestimated.

If there is any cause for concern then it is the performance of their top order. Apart from Rohit Sharma, no one has really got any runs. There is a huge question mark over KL Rahul's place and we believe he will continue to get the backing of the Indian team for this match, at least.

Virat Kohli has been short of runs for quite a while now as well and must be under pressure to score runs also. Shreyas Iyer is perhaps the best player of spin that India has right now with Pujara also in a good space with some runs in the previous match.

The fact that India's batting goes on till number 9 is where India is often able to pull back things.

India Playing 11

Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KS Bharat, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Siraj.

Australia

Australia is certain to welcome back Mitchell Starc and Cameron Green into the side. Pat Cummins is not available for this match and so Mitch Starc will take his place while Cameron Green could replace Matthew Renshaw. Travis Head will move to the top of the order to open the batting as David Warner is injured.

The Australia team came into this series believing it could win and while a series victory is no longer possible, it must believe it can win a match. Starc will add an important reverse swing and intimidation of the lower order factor while Cameron Green adds balance to the side.

Also, we believe Travis Head's aggressive approach could pay off dividends. For a lot od the Delhi Test match, Australia was ahead of the game. They will need almost everything going their way in Indore as well but it could happen.

The spin-trio of Kuhnemann, Lyon, and Murphy were very impressive in the previous match. There is no reason to break them up. They will ask some tough questions of the Indian batters and just need to be as consistent as they possibly can.

Where Australia has fallen behind so far is losing wickets in clumps, not being able to trust their defense when they fall behind, and the fact that their fast bowlers have not performed up to expectations.

Australia Playing 11

Usman Khawaja, Travis Head, Marnus Labuschagne, Steven Smith, Peter Handscomb, Cameron Green, Alex Carey, Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon, Todd Murphy, Matthew Kuhnemann.

IND vs AUS Toss Prediction

The team that wins the toss is going to want to bat first. There is absolutely no doubt about that. India can (and has) overturned the disadvantage of batting second but we don't think Australia will be able to do the same. In a sense, the toss is a lot more important for Australia than it is for India.

Pitch and Conditions

The conditions are expected to be hot and dry. Summer has arrived in India and players will be tested with the heat a lot more. Indore can be a better batting surface than what we have seen in the previous two Tests but there will be help for the spinners for sure.

IND vs AUS Betting Tips

India is probably one of the hardest teams to beat at home in the history of cricket. It has three world-class spinners all of whom are also terrific batters in home conditions. Also, it is reasonable to think that India's top order is going to fire sooner rather than later.

The odds may be a bit short but India is the team to back in this match as well.

Bet on India to win.

Peter Handscomb has the second most runs for Australia in the series and is also quite accomplished against spin. We think this Over/Under line is quite low and can be taken advantage of.

No one got a century in the previous match but stats show that Indore is a much better batting wicket than all the other venues where the matches are being played in this series. The chance of getting a 72% return on any one batter from either side getting a century is too good to pass on. Well worth the risk.

    Marnus Labuschagne Total Fours

    Over 2.5 (1.63)

This has been a winning bet for us in the first two matches and we are goinn to stick to it in the third as well. Labuschagne has shown intent against the spinners and also comes into bat when the ball is hard (and so travels to the boundary easier).
