IND vs PAK Match Prediction - Oct 23, 2022

It is that time again. The biggest sporting rivalry in the world will be played out on the biggest stage in the world. India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup 2022 is an event that fans have been waiting for around the world for almost a year now. These two teams also met in 2021 when Pakistan absolutely smashed India and won by ten wickets in the end.

That was its first-ever victory over India in a World Cup match. Can it go on a winning run of its own? There has been bad blood between the BCCI and the PCB off the field with both claiming their teams will not travel to the other country but we like to believe true fans and players are above this sort of politicking.

All the best cricket betting sites have India as the favorite to win but Pakistan is as dangerous a team as they come. The weather forecast for this match is quite poor and we could have DLS playing a role in this match as well.

Match prediction and cricket betting tips for India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup 2022. The match will be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne on the 23rd of October 2022.

IND vs PAK Team Previews

India

India suffered two major setbacks before the start of the T20 World Cup. Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah, key players for them, were ruled out due to injuries. The bowling lineup for India is not set in stone and that is where opposition teams will look to take advantage.

We think Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh, and Mohammad Shami will be the three fast bowlers that play. Kumar and Singh have been devastating with the new ball and will ask some tough questions of the Pakistani openers. Seeing how heavily Pakistan relies on its opening pair, this battle could be decisive.

Axar Patel and R Ashwin are the two spinners that we see playing for India. Both of them can be used as matchups dictate with Hardik Pandya as the sixth bowler. His short bowling can also be very important against Pakistan, a team that has struggled against the short ball more than all other test nations except Bangladesh.

India's strength is its batting. As a team, it has the highest strike rate, the best powerplay stats, and plenty of players that can dominate high pace. Getting through Shaheen's first couple of overs without too much damage is going to be the key.

If India can avoid a situation like in 2021 where its top order was blown away by Pakistan, we think India's batting will dominate this match.

India Playing 11

Rohit Sharma, Lokesh Rahul, V Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Dinesh Karthik, Axar Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh.

Pakistan

Pakistan comes into this match with a lot of momentum. It has a pretty stable and predictable way of playing T20 cricket which has brought it a fair bit of success. Winning the tri-series in New Zealand was a good sign, especially as Pakistan's bowling was not at full strength.

They will have Shaheen Afridi (The Falcon) back at the helm of the attack. He is one of the all-time greats when it comes to powerplay bowling in T20 cricket and he is still in the early stages of his career. Supporting him is Haris Rauf, a bowler that has the pace and skill to bowl at any stage of the inning, Naseem Shah, and two brilliant spinners that can be used as the matchups dictate.

Pakistan's bowling is good enough that it allows the team to defend par totals in most cases.

That is why Pakistan's batting is a bit more conservative. Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan face the bulk of the deliveries and score the bulk of the runs. An injury to Shan Masood could put his place in doubt thus opening the way for Fakhar Zaman or Haider Ali to make a return.

The middle order of Iftikhar Ahmed, Asif Ali, Shadab Khan, and Mohammad Rizwan is better than most people expect. We think Pakistan will send one of the all-rounders up the order. The challenge will be facing high pace deliveries with the added bounce of the Australian surfaces.

Pakistan Playing 11

Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Shan Masood, Haider Ali, Mohammad Nawaz, Shadab Khan, Iftikhar Ahmed, Asif Ali, Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, Naseem Shah.

IND vs PAK Toss Prediction

The team that wins the toss is likely to want to field first. While the toss has not had much an impact so far, the fact that rain is around could prompt teams to chase so that they know exactly what DLS target they need to get.

Pitch and Conditions

There is a lot of rain forecast in Melbourne over the next few days. The chances that rain plays spoilsport and actually causes a no-result are quite high. However, the forecast has improved marginally over the last few days. We could find enough time in between showers to get a game. Fingers crossed that the rain gods are cricket fans as well!

IND vs PAK Betting Tips

India and Pakistan are closer matched as cricket teams than they have been in the past decade. Both teams have proven match winners and individual brilliance can help their team get over the line. The effect of individual performances becomes even larger as the number of overs becomes lesser.

Keeping all things in mind, we advise a small bet on India to win. Their superior batting, better fitness, and the new ball wicket-taking ability that many people are not quite talking about should help India get over the line.

Bet on India to win.

This is a Betway boost and we think it is worth considering. India is the favorite to win and Rohit Sharma has shown a superb ability to clear the boundary from the first ball. He smashed a six against Naseem Shah in the first over of the Asia Cup. The rewards are worth the risk.

There are two reasons why we think this bet could come through. The first is India's aggressive approach and the other is India's ability to swing the new ball. We like the odds being offered.

Pakistan won the previous WC match against India by 10 wickets. That was an anomaly. In Australia, the effect of the toss is going to be less and the bowlers have more of a chance. Both teams are going to come hard at each other and will end up losing wickets.
