Just a couple of days after winning an exciting T20 series against Australia, India will now play a three-match T20 series against South Africa. This is the last T20 series that the two teams will play before they travel to Australia for the T20 World Cup.
India has rested a couple of key players and is also likely to miss a few more players because of injuries. South Africa, on the other hand, will have its first-choice team available for selection. Interestingly, both India and South Africa are in the same group for the T20 World Cup and would like to keep a couple of surprises in store.

IND vs RSA Team Previews
India
India has rested Hardik Pandya and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and will also be without Deepak Hooda who has a back injury. Mohammad Shami was in the squad but he is still recovering from COVID and will not be a part of the squad either.
That means there will be plenty of chances to experiment with the bowling lineup. We expect to see more or less the same batting unit take the field. Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, and Dinesh Karthik will all be in the playing eleven. The real question is over who will replace Hardik Pandya.
We think Rishab Pant will get another opportunity to prove he belongs in this format. With Rohit, Virat, and SKY in prime form, KL Rahul playing with wonderful intent, and Karthik also enjoying the finisher's role, India's batting lineup is very solid.
Axar Patel at seven is at least one place higher than where he should be but there is not much room for change.
India's big problem in the recent games has been its bowling. We could see Arshdeep Singh and Jasprit Bumrah bowling in tandem for the first time with perhaps Deepak Chahar replacing Bhuneshwar Kumar. India could also choose to stick with Harshal Patel and give him a couple of more chances.
With plenty of left-handers in the lineup, this is a series in which R Ashwin will get a chance as well.

South Africa
South Africa is back to full strength and its captain, Temba Bavuma has returned as well. We think this is a massive disadvantage for South Africa as Bavuma will take up an important position that could have been served better by other players in the squad. However, we are not here to discuss politics.
Temba Bavuma, Quinton de Kock, and Rilee Rossouw could be the top 3 for South Africa. It would be a bit harsh on Reeza Hendricks but that is the direction we expect the team to take. Aiden Markram, David Miller, and Heinrich Klaassen/ Tristan Stubbs are likely to be in the starting lineup as well.
The South African batting lineup is very deep and will not be easy to contain. Almost all of the players have a massive amount of experience playing in India as well.
At number 7, Dwaine Pretorius or Wayne Parnell will be crucial followed by the two spinners (Maharaj and Shamsi) and the two express fat-bowlers (Rabada and Nortje).

IND vs RSA Toss Prediction
The team that wins the toss is likely to want to field first. This is just the third T20 international being played and the previous two results have been wildly different. Teams would like to have a target in front of them unless the surface is very dry.

Pitch and Conditions
There is no rain forecast in Thiruvananthpuram on matchday. The pitch at the Greenfield is expected to be good for batting with a bit of help for the pacers. Reports suggest there will be a good amount of carry that will help produce some exciting cricket.
We think a score of around 160 should be seen as par.
IND vs RSA Betting Tips
We think South Africa is being a bit undervalued by the cricket betting sites. It is available for odds twice as good as what are being offered for India. That just does not make sense. India, without Hardik Pandya (arguably its most important player), and with a bowling attack that is struggling is immensely beatable.

We saw an absolute exhibition of xi-hitting from India and Australia in the previous series and that is the reason why the Over/Under line is so high. Without Hardik Pandya and with a South African lineup that is not as aggressive as Australia, we could see fewer sixes hit.
The markets are really undervaluing South Africa's bowling lineup. They have several bowlers that can really get on a roll when they are in form. We like the odds and think this market is worth the risk as well.
