India vs West Indies T20 series is not going to a walkover for the hosts as the West Indians have come to play hard and push the Indians to their limits. The first T20 match was a high-scoring encounter where both the team’s battled hard and it took an inning of brilliance from Virat Kohli to help India get over the line.
The loss against Afghanistan seems to a distant memory and the West Indies side is playing with a more aggressive mindset that is great to see. There are some improvements that both teams can make ahead of the second T20 international and we can hope for another thriller to enjoy.
India vs West Indies 2nd 2019 is going to be played at the Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthpuram on the 8th of December, Sunday.
If India thought that they were going to have it easy or friendly against the West Indies then they were grossly mistaken. They were left scrambling for answers as the West Indian batsmen took the attack to the Indian bowlers from the very first ball and never stopped coming.
Bhuvaneshwar Kumar managed to pull things back in the end overs and the spinners too kept the scoring rate somewhat in check but overall, India would not be happy about its bowling performance. Deepak Chahar took an early wicket but was plastered to all parts of the ground afterward.
Chahar may have recorded the best-ever bowling figures in a T20 not too long ago but we are not too sure about his utility in the long run. He does not have the pace and is very hittable after the initial swing has worn away.
Mohammad Shami is waiting in the wings and could get a look-in if Chahar continues to go for runs.
Washington Sundar also had an off-day and was quite expensive during the powerplay. He also has Kuldeep Yadav breathing down his neck and would be aware that he does not have too much leeway.
India’s batting was all about Virat Kohli. The man has been out of international T20 cricket for quite some time but did not miss a beat as he smashed 94 not out from 50 balls. This was his highest T20 score and included the most number of sixes he has ever hit in one inning.
Virat Kohli struggled a bit during the first half of his inning and was helped by the performance of Lokesh Rahul, who also played very well to score 62 from 40 balls.
With Rohit Sharma, Shreyas Iyer, and Rishab Pant also in the lineup, the Indian batting is very strong. We are not too sure about Shivam Dube, Washington Sundar, and Ravindra Jadeja at 6,7,8, though. This is one area where India will have to make some tough choices once Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah make a comeback into the side.
For the moment, India may continue with the same lineup for the next match as well.
Rohit Sharma, Lokesh Rahul, V Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, YS Chahal, RR Pant, Shivam Dube, Washington Sundar, Ravindra Jadeja, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Deepak Chahar.
An awesome batting performance from the West Indies set the stage for a very close match. The West Indians had their chance but could not get Virat Kohli out and that proved to be the difference in the end.
The surface in Hyderabad also played to the strengths of the West Indian batsmen and things might get tougher on slower surfaces. Evin Lewis looked in tremendous form, Brandon King gave a good account of himself, and Shimron Hetmyer players very well also.
Kieron Pollard and Jason Holder unleashed a powerful attack during the end of the inning and helped the West Indies reach a total of 207. One of the biggest strengths of this West indies side is its ability to bat deep.
We would actually like to see Fabian Allen in the side in place of Khary Pierre and really let the West Indians go hard from ball one. Nicholas Pooran is going to be available for selection in this match but finding a place for him might be difficult.
Lendl Simmons is the only batsman that may miss out if Pooran is elevated to the opening position.
Sheldon Cottrell was the pick of the West Indian bowlers during the previous match and troubled all the batsmen he bowled to. We thought Kieron Pollard missed a trick by not bowling Hayden Walsh a bit earlier in the inning as that forced him to bring on himself during the crunch situation.
The bowling attack is a bit weak for the West Indies and is going to struggle to stop this strong Indian batting lineup. Having a total of over 200 runs to defend is probably the best-case scenario for them succeeding but that did not work out either.
LMP Simmons, Evin Lewis, Brandon King, Nicholas Pooran, Shimron Hetmyer, Kieron Pollard, Jason Holder, Khary Pierre, Hayden Walsh, Sheldon Cottrell, KOK Williams.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to field first since some amount of dew is expected later in the match.

The weather forecast for Thiruvanathpuram is excellent and there is no threat of rain. The pitch at the Greenfield Stadium is not going to be as good to bat on as the one in Hyderabad but it is still going to be very good.
The outfield is small and the potential for another high-scoring match is there. We also expect the spinners to play a bigger role in this match than they did in the previous one.
Dream11 team and Dream11 prediction for India vs West Indies 2nd T20 international. We have learned a bit from the tactics that both teams used in the previous match and adapted our team accordingly. It looks like Rishab Pant is going to be batting at number four rather than Shreyas Iyer so he becomes a better choice. Also, the form of Evin Lewis makes him a candidate to pick as captain or vice-captain as an inconventional choice.

Chasing under lights with the dew is a big advantage as India showed in the previous match as well. However, even if India does have to bat first, its T20 side looks much better placed than the West Indies. India’s batting was not at its best, apart from Kohli, and the bowling can be much better as well.
