India may have proved their mettle in the two longer formats of the game, but their inadequacies were well and truly apparent in the second T20I of their series against West Indies. With both India and West Indies each having one win to their name in the series, the series hangs nicely in balance with all the focus on the third and final match. The third match of the series will be played at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on 11th December. Both the teams have approached the game game with a similar agressive mindset and the two teams are expected to hold nothing back in the upcoming match as well. An enthralling finale is certainly on the cards on Wednesday.
With ICC World T20 less than a year away, India are experimenting in almost every game to get their combination right as soon as possible. While their ploy to push Shivam Dube up the batting order worked well, it had a negative impact on the performances of Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer.
In the first match of the series, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul helped India chase a towering total on a lifeless surface of Hyderabad, but both of them failed to do anything of substance on Friday. Shivam Dube and Rishabh Pant helped India do put a total of 170 runs on the board, but the total proved to be too little to challenge the powerfull West Indies batting lineup.
Although both batting and bowling failed to fire for India, it was their fielding that let them down. They gave away at least 20 extra runs in the field through misfields and dropped catches, the runs which eventually turned out to be the difference between a win and a loss. India's bowling has looked toothless in both the matches and we expect them to experiment a bit in this department.
Rohit Sharma, Lokesh Rahul, V Kohli, RR Pant, Shreyas Iyer, Shivam Dube, Washington Sundar, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav, Deepak Chahar, Mohammed Shami.
There's a reason West Indies are defending champions in the shortest version of the game. They have a team that has all the batsmen capable of hitting the ball right from the word go. Although they are placed number ten in the ICC T20I rankings, they are a lot better than what the numbers reflect.
While their batting has been phenomenal in both the matches, their bowling seems to lack the same sharpness. Virat Kohli wreaked havoc on their relatively inexperienced bowling attack as India chased down the total of 207 with remarkable ease.
In the second match, however, their bowlers did an excellent of pulling India back after India looked all set to rack up yet another towering total. Walsh proved handful on a surface that was turning, but it would be interesting to see how he fares on Mumbai's deck. All in all West Indies have a batting lineup that is second to none and if their bowling manages to contain India, India will have their work cut out.

The series is hanging nicely in balance with both teams winning a game each. A win for the team chasing has been the trend in the tournament so far and with batting being the forte of both the sides, it could very well be in the upcoming fixture as well. While West Indies have no dearth of hard-hitting batsmen, they lack the experience, which could come in handy in crunch situations. Indian top-order, on the other hand, is full of experience and therefore, we think that India are better placed to emerge on top in the upcoming fixture.
