About the Match
India made a brilliant comeback into the ODI series by scoring a gigantic win against Australia in the 2nd ODI by 9 wickets and 39 balls to spare. That match saw India breaking numerous records and it’s their highest successful chase so far. Now with the series levelled, the teams move to Mohali both with the same motive of getting the upper hand in the series. Australia will not take that defeat lying low and will be hungry for revenge coming out all guns blazing once again. India is riding high on morale and with the support of the home crowd; this game will be a delight to watch and follow.
It was an exhilarating performance by Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who smashed away sixes and fours without any inhibitions. Faced with the target of 360 runs, the openers exhibited tremendous determination and focus as they put up a 176-run partnership for the first wicket. Rohit’s unbeaten 141 off 123 balls and Dhawan’s 95 off 86 balls built the foundation for India, which further gained momentum with the entry of Kohli who broke the record for the fastest century by an Indian by thundering away 7 sixes and 8 fours thus making an unbeaten 100 from just 52 balls! The young brigade belittled the 360 run target and successfully made it home with 6.3 overs to spare. This makes it the second highest successful chase in ODIs and will be remembered for a long time to come. Earlier, the bowlers put up a dismal show giving away too many runs and not being able to make a dent on the opponents’ batting line-up. They need to pull up their socks for the upcoming matches and give able support to the batsmen next time around. India is looking very good to take on the mightiest of opponents that come in their way.
After showing their extraordinary batting prowess against a mediocre Indian bowling, Australia would never have imagined that a score of 359 would be impossible to defend. Getting off to a dream start with superb batting by Finch, Hughes, Watson, Bailey and even Maxwell; the visitors were confident of winning this one again. It was a rare occasion in ODI history that all the top five batsmen scored 50 or more runs and their collective efforts resulted in Australia putting up their highest score in the Indian sub-continent. The bowling unit looked good; however, the fast bowlers as well as the spinners failed against the heroics of Dhawan, Kohli and Sharma and were smashed away easily in the Jaipur conditions. It was not until the 26th over, that Australia got a break in the dismissal of Dhawan at the hands of Faulkner, but by then enough damage had been done. The result was disappointing but the team will fill up the gaps and come back much stronger in the next match.
The teams look equally matched and with the strong batting performances, it will be another contest between the hard-hitters from both teams and although our cricket betting
has been good so far, I am I a little uncertain in this case. India’s bowling is a concern but their recent win will surely give the required impetus to the bowlers’ confidence as well. Australia will definitely learn from its mistakes and come back with a stronger game plan. Though the match could either way, it will surely be one with fireworks and will see India finishing right on top once again.
India, 1.57 @ Bet365
Batsmen of both the sides are making merry on flat Indian tracks. Mohali track too is likely to favor batsmen and with top-order of both teams in such fine form, a century to be scored is certainly on the cards.
