Some of the biggest names ever in cricket are coming together for the Road Safety World Series T20 2020. When we say big names, we mean legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara, Carl Hooper, Yuvraj Singh, and many more.
None of the cricketers taking part in this series are active in international cricket or on the T20 circuit anymore. Yuvraj Singh plays a few series but he too has not been active in the big T20 leagues for a couple of years now.
So is it possible to have a competitive series between these retired players or will we be forced to watch friendlies where the vibe is similar to an exhibition match? We’ll find out soon enough.
India Legends vs West Indies Legends is going to be played at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on the 7th of March 2020.
We are sure that fans around the world are going to tune in to watch Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag open the batting once more. Both the players have turned out for a few matches in the USA in the past but to actually take part in a T20 series is a rare treat.
We don’t think Sehwag is going to bat any differently from what he used to in his prime. Neither player is going to be clearing the boundaries very easily but they have the natural gift of timing and of finding the gaps.
India Legends also have Yuvraj Singh, Mohammad Kaif, Sanjay Bangar, and Irfan Pathan to pick from. That ensures that there will be a decent collection of batsmen that have been active not too long ago and will be pretty fit on the field.
Sameer Dighe is the lone wicketkeeper and os is going to play in the side for sure.
Manpreet Gony, Zaheer Khan, Munaf Patel, and Pragyan Ojha seem likely to the bowlers that will be a part of the playing eleven in the first match.
V Sehwag, SR Tendulkar, Y Singh, Mohammad Kaif, Irfan Pathan, Sairaj Bahutule, Pragyan Ojha, Munaf Patel, Manpreet Gony, Sameer Dighe, Z Khan.
Brian Lara had retired before the T20 revolution truly came around and we can only wonder what he may have achieved had he been born a few years later than he actually was. Nevertheless, a chance to see Brian Lara play a T20 series is too good to pass away.
They say that form is temporary and class is permanent. Age may have taken its toll on Brian Lara but he is still going to be a treat for the eyes.
Darren Ganga, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Carl Hooper, and Ridley Jacobs are some of the batsmen that are likely to be a part of the starting eleven for West Indies. In general, the West Indian players for this league are a little bit older than the Indian ones and that is a disadvantage.
The bowling is going to be led by Tino Best, Pedro Collins, Samuel Badree, and Suleiman Benn. Badree and Benn have been playing competitive cricket very recently and are going to be a handful. It will be interesting to see how they bowl in this series.
Tino Best can be expected to bowl with fire and Pedr Collins will offer an interesting left-arm angle.
Ridley Jacobs, Brian Lara, Ricardo Powell, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Danza Hyatt, Daren Ganga, Carl Hooper, Pedro Collins, Sulieman Benn, TLB Best, Dinanath Ramnarine.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to field first.

No chance of rain has been forecast in Mumbai on match day. The humidity is going to be a bit high and so we may have some dew to contend with later on. The team that bats second is going to have a slight advantage.
The pitch at the Wankhede is one of the best for batting in the entire country. The ball flies off the bat and the fast outfield allows for plenty of boundaries to be hit.

We think the India Legends team is going to be able to win this match. It has a slightly better batting lineup in our opinion and is filled with players that have retired more recently from cricket.
