India Women

India looks threatening once again thanks to outstanding batting from Smriti Mandhana and her 79 runs from 49 deliveries. If she keeps this up, India will have a firm lock on the series. Shafali Verma has been equally impressive after making 55 across both games.

There’s still a lot of excitement about Richa Ghosh, who hit three sixes late in the match to ensure India stayed in the game. She ended up with 26*, just a bit below her 36 in the first game. Jemimah Rodrigues has been disappointing with the bat, after scoring a duck and four runs in both games.

India’s bowlers have had it tough with only two wickets being taken so far in the series, which goes to show just how great the Aussies are batting. Deepti Sharma and Devika Vaidya have been good but there’s room for improvement in the next three games.

Australia Women

Again, Australia played incredibly well and even scored more runs than the first game, despite batting first this time. They could have easily picked up a win, but were upstaged by India in the later overs.

Weirdly enough, we’ve only seen three Aussie batters perform in two games, with Healy, Mooney, and McGrath facing the Indian bowlers. Mooney was again fantastic, scoring 82* runs (89* in the first match). We’re still waiting to see batting from Gardner, Perry, Graham, and Sutherland! It’s hard to fault the Aussie batters at this moment, especially if Mooney keeps up her incredible form.

The biggest news is that spin bowler Jess Jonassen is out of the series with a hamstring strain, which means her replacement will be Amanda-Jade Wellington. Jonassen only bowled in the first game and went 0/18, so Australia should be fine.

Bowler Megan Schutt has been a bit poor without any wickets and giving up 86 runs, and despite Gardner picking up a wicket in the first game, she went 0/40 in the second and got smashed around the ground. India seems to be figuring out the Aussie bowling attack.
