India Women

The numbers do not do justice to the Indian team’s performance in this series so far. Playing at home against arguably the best batting line-up in Women’s T20, the Indian bowling attack has come under enormous pressure.

Spearheaded by Renuka Singh, the Indian bowling has conceded more than 170 runs in each of the 3 matches so far and will be hoping to contain the rampant batters of Australia in the upcoming game.

Openers Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma have given the team some decent starts, but the middle order has failed to build upon them. The form of captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues remains a cause of concern.

Devika Vaidya and Deepti Sharma have picked up 3 wickets each, but have failed to stem the flow of runs. Much will depend on the bowlers in this game if India wants to have a shot at winning this series.

Australia Women

Barring the loss in the second match during the Super-Over, Australia Women have never really looked in trouble against the Indian team. Both their wins in this series have come with comfortable margins, thanks to some solid performances by their key players.

Beth Mooney and Tahlia McGrath have been pretty consistent with the bat, and are the top-two scorers of this tournament. Within just a year of making her T20 debut, Tahlia has become an indispensable part of the Australian batting line-up and is now the top-ranked batter in Women’s T20.

Veteran Ellyse Perry, whose recent form was a cause of concern for the selectors, finally came to her own, smashing a career-best 75 of just 47 deliveries. Darcie Brown and Ashleigh Gardner were excellent with the ball in that match, picking up 2 wickets each and never really allowing the Indian batters to settle in.
