All the focus may be on India vs South Africa men’s tour but the women are also getting ready to duke it out over five T20 internationals and three ODI’s. The Indian women’s side has made some exciting changes to try and improve its showing as well as building on its strengths. South Africa women have had a tough time in T20 cricket of late and are missing some of their most senior players for this tour.
There are still plenty of match-winners on both sides to make it an exciting contest.
India women vs South Africa women 1st T20 2019 is going to be played at the Lalabhai Contractor Stadium, Surat on the 24th of September 2019.
Harmanpreet Kaur is back from injury and is going to take over the captaincy once again. Kaur is the best known T20 player in the India women’s side alongside Smriti Mandhana. The two of them are going to have huge responsibility on their shoulders to help lead their side to a win.
Both of these players have developed their power game in recent times and are easily two of the cleanest strikers going around in women’s cricket right now.
There are some other very good players to keep your eye on as well. Jemimah Rodrigues did not have a great time in England at the women’s T20 Blast but she would have grown from that experience. Tanya Bhatia, Veda Krishnamoorthy, and Shafali Verma are some of the other payers that are capable of contributing to the batting.
Shafali Verma is just 15 years od right now but is very highly rated in Indian domestic circles. Coping with international cricket is going to be a big step up but she seems to have the talent to do so.
Poonam Yadav, Pooja Vatsrakar (also making a comeback into the side), Radha Yadav, and Shikha Pandey are the players that will be leading the bowling attack for India.
Familiarity with home conditions gives the Indian T20 side a big advantage in this series.
Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Harmanpreet Kaur, Veda Krishnamurthy, Poonam Yadav, Deepti Sharma, Pooja Vastrakar, Taniya Bhatia, Radha Yadav, Shikha Pandey.
The loss of Marizanne Kapp and Dane van Niekerk is a big blow to the South African T20 side. These are the two most experienced players of the South Africa women’s team and also the ones that take up the pressure when the going gets tough.
In their absence, Laura Wolvaardt, Lizelle Lee, Sune Luus, and Mignon du Preez will have to work extra hard.
The South African batting lineup is still pretty strong. The opening partnership of Lizelle Lee and Laura Wolvaardt can be very destructive while the middle order has a fair bit of talent as well.
Shabnim Ismail is going to attract a lot of attention as one of the fastest bowlers in women’s cricket. Her pace is a big threat and even though her lines can be a bit inconsistent, we think she is going to have a lot of success on this tour.
Tumi Sekhukhune, Ayabonga Khaka, and Sune Luus are the other players that are going to play a major role in the bowling department.
The South African side is going to have to rebalance in the absence of two of its middle-order batters and regular bowlers. The absence of two senior all-rounders is not going to be easy to recover from. The conditions are also not the most favorable for the South African cricketers making the task that much more tougher.
Lizelle Lee, Tazmin Brits, Laura Wolvaardt, Nadine de Klerk, Mignon du Preez, Sune Luus, Nondumiso Shangase, Nonkululeko Mlaba, Shabnim Ismail, Ayabonga Khaka, Tumi Sekhukhune.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to field first with the rain around as well as because of the uncertainty about how the surface will play.

India women vs South Africa women 1st T20 2019 is going to be played at the Lalabhai Contractor Stadium, Surat on the 24th of September 2019.
There has been a lot of rain in Surat over the last few days and the forecast for match day is no different. It appears as if the rain should relent around the time when the match is going to start so we may be able to get a full game in, provided the outfield does not remain wet.
The pitch at Surat is going to slow but flat. The batsmen are going to be able to score runs when the ball is new and then struggle as it becomes older. A total of around 140 should be a good one.

We think that a full-strength India women’s cricket team should be able to beat the South African women’s cricket team at home. The missing players in the South African squad also make things more difficult.
