India’s batting did not really perform at its best in the previous match yet the side was able to get enough runs on the board to beat the South African women. This is something that is going to give immense confidence to the side.

Smriti Mandhana looked very fluent at the top of the order while Harmanpreet Kaur top-scored for the side. Both of these players are considered to be among the best in the world when it comes to T20 cricket and it bodes well for India that they have started the series confidently.

Jemimah Rodrigues and a couple of other batters also got a start which should help give them confidence for the upcoming game.

The spinners dominated proceedings and we don’t think India is going to change anything around for this game. Deepti Sharma, Poonam Yadav, and Radha Yadav were the best bowlers on the day and they will be given the responsibility of keeping the South African women quiet once again.

India has plenty of areas in which it could still improve and pose an even more formidable challenge to the South Africans.

South Africa Women

South Africa women would have come away from the first T20 thinking they lost an opportunity to try and win an important match. They managed to keep India down to a small total and even got off to a decent start.

Unfortunately, things started unraveling around the time that the ace Indian spinners came on.

South Africa women must find a way to make the most of their overs against spin. This is India and the conditions are going to be spin-friendly. Close to 80% of all the overs they face are going to be spin, of a quality that the South Africans are not used to.

This is why having a clear mind and a strategy for facing spin is very important.

We think Lizelle Lee at the top can cause some flutters with her aggressive style of play while Laura Wolvaardt and Mignon du Preez re probably well equipped to turn the strike over with consistent singles.

The inexperience in the middle order is something that the South Africans cannot help. Their best two all-rounders are missing this series and that is pretty difficult to overcome.

On the bowling front, Ayabonga Khaka and Shabnim Ismail were the two best bowlers in the first match. They will both have to strike again early and pick early wickets to keep India to manageable totals. We just can’t see the South African women chasing down big totals on turning wickets.

Batting first and getting to par totals will be the best option for South Africa in this series.

The Lalbhai Contractor Stadium has very good facilities but no one os going to be able to do anything if the rain does not stop. There is plenty of rain predicted for match day in Surat again. We just have to hope that the rain keeps away long enough for a T20 match to be played out.

The groundsman would not have had too much time to work on the pitch and so we expect to see a pitch that is slow and takes a lot of spin. A score of around 140 is going to be difficult to chase down.

Rain could play a major role in this third T20 international as well. If the match is curtailed then some major Dream11 changes may have to be made to include a bowling heavy side with only the minimum top-order batters and all-rounders.
