IRE vs NZ Match Prediction - Jul 20, 2022

Ireland have had a funny little run of late, having come close to a win a number of times but not getting it even once. They were pretty good against India only to be left stranded with no win to their name. They started off in a similar manner against the Kiwis as well and though they did come close on a couple of occasions, they could not turn the results to their favor.

Up next in their T20I series against the Kiwis, Ireland will be desperate to grab a win in what has otherwise been a pretty good series for them. New Zealand, on the other hand, will want to show their dominant nature in the two matches left to play. The 2nd T20I of the series between Ireland and New Zealand is to be played on July 20th 2022 at Belfast.

IRE vs NZ Team Previews

Ireland

Ireland have been spectacular ever since the Kiwis have stepped on their soil. They were always the minnows going up against one of the best limited-overs sides in World Cricket and the way they have stepped on the gas pedal has clearly surprised one and all. Ireland have pushed the Kiwis to their limits and that is apparent by the margin of the losses they have sustained.

Twice in the One Day Internationals, Ireland could have been on the other side of the result, having lost the matches by one-run and one-wicket respectively. Even in the other match, they were well in business with their bowling stepping up. In the first T20I, however, Ireland were far from their best as they lost the match by 31 runs.

On paper, Ireland have a fairly good side that can defeat even the best on their day. The likes of Paul Stirling and Harry Tector can launch the ball hard and heavy and we have already seen that happen. A lot will depend on how they absorb pressure and if they are able to do that well, getting past them could prove to be exceedingly difficult.

Ireland Playing 11

Andy Balbirnie, PR Stirling, Gareth Delany, Harry Tector, Curtis Campher, George Dockrell, Lorcan Tucker, Mark Adair, Barry McCarthy, Craig Young, Joshua Little.

New Zealand

New Zealand may be one of the better sides in the international circuit at the moment, but they haven't really played like one. They have come mighty too close to their comfort and they would want to introspect even though they have been unbeaten in the series so far.

They have done a lot better in the only T20I played thus far and would want to carry the momentum in the second one. Batting first in the first match, they managed a total of 173 runs, which they thereafter defended with significant ease. The sheer pace of Lockie Ferguson coupled with some swashbuckling batting by Glenn Phillips paved the way for their win.

On paper, the Kiwis have a side loaded with T20I stars right from the top to the bottom. They have the ability to go all guns blazing right from the word go and that is exactly what they'll be looking to do in this match to come. Considering their on paper combination, all they'd need to do is to play to their potential and if they can do that, getting past them could prove to be incredibly difficult.

New Zealand Playing 11

IRE vs NZ Betting Tips

It is an important match of the tournament with the fate of the series resting on this one. Both these sides would want to win this one and a cracker of a contest is certainly on the cards. While the Kiwis have the momentum and a better-balanced side, the Irishment have the home advantage at their disposal. Considering that and the other factors stated above, we would be placing our bets on a New Zealand win here. Back the Kiwis to win the match and take the 2-0 lead in this series.
