IRE vs SCT Match Prediction - Sep 20, 2019

In the ongoing triangular series between Ireland, Scotland, and the Netherlands, the recently concluded match between Scotland and Netherlands was a rare occasion in the series that batsmen from both the sides struggled to score. Scotland, having emerged on the positive side of the results, wouldn't be too fussed about it. Although the three-team tournament follows the league structure and there is no final to conclude the series, a finish among the top two teams is satisfactory.

Ireland and Scotland are set to meet each other in the upcoming contest at the Village Dublin on 20th September, and a win for Scotland will ascertain their top of the table finish, Ireland, too, will be looking to register a win to get to the top of the ladder. With World T20 Qualifiers coming up next, both the sides will be looking to get some momentum, and a cracker of a contest is undoubtedly on the cards on Friday.

IRE vs SCT Team Previews

Ireland

Although Ireland are not playing with their full-strength squad, they have done pretty well in the tournament so far. With Paul Stirling absent from the top, the onus was on Andy Balbirnie to carry them in the batting department. While he has done his job pretty well, the standout performer for the hosts has been Harry Tector.

Harry Tector played an instrumental role in getting Ireland across the line against Scotland in the earlier fixture and scored a 40-ball 60 against the Netherlands. Alongside him, Gareth Delany played a pretty good knock against Scotland.

The form of Gary Wilson, their skipper as well as wicket-keeper, will undoubtedly be a cause of concern for the hosts. He played a laborious knock of 8-runs coming at a pedestrian pace. Ireland's bowling as well has been ordinary at best in their two completed matches. While they have a home advantage going for them, they certainly have their work cut-out in the final fixture of this series.

Ireland Playing 11

GC Wilson, Mark Richard Adair, Andy Balbirnie, David Delany, Gareth Delany, George Dockrell, Shane Getkate, Kevin O'Brien, Simi Singh, Lorcan Tucker, CA Young.

Scotland

It would be safe to say that Scotland have been the side to beat in the tournament so far. Yes, they were beaten by Ireland not long ago, but the dominance they have shown in both of their wins has been exemplary, and their net run rate of 1.845 is evidence of that. In the three matches played, Scotland have won two and lost one.

They started their campaign with a remarkable win over Netherlands wherein Kyle Coetzer and George Munsey both played mind-boggling innings as Scotland scored one of the highest totals ever in T20I cricket. Their spectacular success was followed by a heart-breaking loss to Ireland wherein their bowlers failed to defend a total which was just a few runs shy of 200.

Their bowling pulled themselves up in their last fixture, against the Netherlands, as they restricted the men in orange to a total of 123 before their batsmen chased it down with considerable ease in a little over 13 overs. All in all, Scotland have been the best team in the tournament so far and beating them again will certainly not be easy for the hosts.

Scotland Playing 11

Matthew Cross, George Munsey, Calum MacLeod, Michael Leask, Richie Berrington, Ollie Hairs, Craig Wallace, Tom Sole, Safyaan Sharif, Adrian Neill, Hamza Tahir.
