IRE vs WI Match Prediction - May 05, 2019

Ireland may have lost their only ODI against England, but the way they competed in the match against the World Cup favorites would certainly have boosted their confidence to a great extent. They'll be carry this confidence into the tri-series between Ireland, West Indies, and Bangladesh beginning on Sunday, 5th May with the Caribbean team taking the hosts which is to be played at Clontarf Cricket Ground, Dublin. While it will be a good preparatory series for the Windies and Bangladesh, the Irish will be looking to present their case with a series of good performances over the course of next few days.

IRE vs WI Team Previews

Ireland

Ireland would definitely take some heart from their yesterday's performance against England. Even though they failed to emerge on the right side of the result, their quick bowlers bowled beautifully to wreak havoc on English top-order before the debutant, Ben Foakes, bailed them out with a brilliant half-century.

Unlike West Indies, the Irish side is playing with their full-strength squad comprising of William Porterfield, Paul Stirling, George Dockrell, and Kevin O'Brien. Another advantage for them will be the fact that they are playing at home which can really make a difference against an largely inexperienced unit.

In the last match, it was Joshua Little who surprised the visitors with his pace and bounce. Alongside him, Boyd Rankin and Tim Murtagh did decently to trouble the English top-order. With experience available in all departments of the game, this Irish side certainly won't be easy to get past especially while playing in the familiar conditions.

West Indies

It's been a while since the Caribbean team played International Cricket. The last time they played a limited-overs match, it was against England where they leveled the series 2-2 at home. However, it won't be a walk in the park for them this tournament considering tha they do not really have their full strength squad available.

For West Indies, this series will serve a dual purpose. It will give a good game time to the players who are not playing the IPL and are in the World Cup squad. It will also provide their youngsters with an opportunity to showcase their talent which might well turn out to be a blessing for players who are not in their World Cup squad.

In their current side, Darren Bravo is the man with most number of matches under his belt. Along with Shai Hope, he will be a vital cog in the batting lineup which otherwise looks to be a little too inexperienced. However, they look pretty balanced on bowling front with the likes of Jason Holder, Shannon Gabriel, and Kemar Roach available.

IRE vs WI Betting Tips

Considering how they did against the Ireland, it is unlikely that the management will want to make too many changes. West Indies, on the other hand, will only be a shadow of the side which played against England a few months ago. Their bowling looks good, but the inexperience of playing in Irish conditions may well turn out to be the difference. With Ireland doing well in their last game and West Indies lacking experience, we think the Irish side will end up on the better side of the result in the upcoming encounter.
