Zimbabwe’s slide in the cricketing world continues as it has now lost the ODI series against Zimbabwe. Yes, Ireland is playing in home conditions but it has struggled in the 50 over format against most other nations. Now, with a 2-0 scoreline assuring they cannot lose the series, Ireland will be trying to make a clean sweep out of this contest.
Zimbabwe needs a serious re-think about its cricket because it came to Ireland with a full-strength team. They may not have anything to gain terms of the series but a win here could help them gain some momentum ahead of the T20 series which begins just a couple of days after the third ODI.
Ireland vs Zimbabwe 3rd ODI is going to be played at the Civil Service Cricket Club, Belfast on the 7th of July 2019.
Some excellent performances from players like Andrew Balbirnie, Paul Stirling, and James McCollum have ensured that Ireland ended up on the winning side in the first two matches of the series. The injection of some new names into the side has started paying dividends as they have now gained some experience and are able to perform better.
Lorcan Tucker also made a very important contribution of 56 from just 51 balls helping his side reach a competitive total in the previous match.
Ireland would have liked to see William Porterfield and Kevin O’Brien make more of an impact in the series but they are not going to be too concerned. They are both extremely experienced players and are going to be able to score sooner or later.
Going into the final ODI match, Ireland will be very confident. It pulled off a tricky chase in the first ODI and then won the second batting first. Its top-order is playing well and the middle order is also coming together nicely.
When it comes to the bowling, Tim Murtagh and Shane Getkate are leading the wicket-takers' charts. Murtagh took five wickets in the second match while giving away just 21 runs in his ten overs. Boyd Rankin bowled with decent pace but has only managed to pick up one wicket in the two matches.
Ireland’s bowling attack is a work in progress and we think they are going to continue to need some support from the batsmen to help create pressure on the opposition.
A 3-0 victory against Zimbabwe would be perfect for Ireland as it begins its quest to rise up the ODI rankings.

Two defeats in two close matches against a side that they were expected to beat is not the best news for Zimbabwe. They have brought a full-strength team and would have thought a series win was more than likely.
Now they face the prospect of losing 3-0 and that is something that they want to avoid at all costs.
Craig Ervine and Ryan Burl have been the best batsmen for Zimbabwe in this series. Sean Williams and Sikandar Raza also scored runs as Zimbabwe made a real effort to haul down Ireland’s target but eventually fell 5 runs short.
Brendan Taylor is probably the best batsman that Zimbabwe has but his lack of runs in the middle order has hurt them. It also does not help when the opening pair is unable to get the side off to a good start.
Hamilton Masakadza and Solomon Mire are very talented players that have performed for Zimbabwe in the past but they cannot be allowed to take their pace for granted.
News has also broken that Zimbabwe cricket board may be suspended because of political interference and that is something that will affect the morale of the team for sure. It is difficult to worry about a dead rubber when your entire future could be at stake.
The Zimbabwe bowling has been disappointing. Sure, the Irish batsmen have played well but we think Zimbabwe’s senior bowlers would be disappointed at their performance so far.
Only Solomon Mire has taken more than three wickets for Zimbabwe in this series. Kyle Jarvis, Tendai Chatara, Sikandar Raza, and Sean Williams have all chipped in with a couple of wickets but these have often come much later in the inning than they would have liked.
Zimbabwe has its work cut out in the third match. Not only do they have a lot to worry about on the field but the off-field noise surrounding Zimbabwe cricket is not very encouraging either.
Hamilton Masakadza, Solomon Mire, Craig Ervine, BRM Taylor, Sean Williams, Sikandar Raza, Ryan Burl, Richmond Mutumbami, C Mpofu, Kyle Jarvis, Tendai Chatara.
The team winning the toss is going to want to bat first. The pitch tends to get a bit slower as the match progresses and makes run-scoring difficult. That being said, we don't think losing the toss is a huge disadvantage.

Ireland vs Zimbabwe 3rd ODI is going to be played at the Civic Service Cricket Club, Belfast. This is the same venue as the second match and that resulted in a close match with scores of about 250. The weather is expected to be quite good in Belfast on match day with a lot of sun predicted.
The pitch should very similar to the one that we saw in the second match. It is not going to change much and will continue to be decent for batting without a lot of pace in it. The slower bowlers will be difficult to get away as the ball gets older.
Zimbabwe has come close to beating Ireland and its best batsman has not yet contributed. We think Ireland played well to win its first two matches but Zimbabwe has the experience to bounce back. The price being offered is pretty attractive and we think punters should definitely think about backing Zimbabwe in this match.
Bet on Zimbabwe to win.
