IREW vs RSAW Match Prediction - Jun 17, 2022

Two absolutely crushing victories in the ODI series have helped South Africa Women take the series with the final match still to be played. However, this is not really about the series victory as few people would have expected anything other than what happened.

Both teams still have ICC Championship points up for grabs in the third and final match and those are important since they help teams qualify for the World Cup.

The cricket betting sites are offering extremely short (next to nothing) odds for South Africa women to win this match. Is there anything that points to an upset in this match?

Match prediction and cricket betting tips for Ireland Women vs South Africa Women 3rd ODI 2022. The match is going to be played at Castle Avenue, Dublin on the 17th of June 2022.

IREW vs RSAW Team Previews

Ireland Women

Ireland Women played better in the second ODI and actually ended up scoring over 200 runs. That was a huge improvement over what we saw in the first ODI. Gaby Lewis scored a fifty and there were a couple of surprisingly good performances from Sophie McMahon and Georgina Dempsey.

We have spoken about the lack of batting quality that is present in the Ireland setup and that is unfortunately not going to change overnight. The ODI format makes it very difficult for just one or two batters to help win the match and so we expect the batting struggles to continue for Ireland Women.

Two matches in which the bowling performances have been ineffective at applying any sort of pressure on the South African batters. Georgina Dempsey and Rachel Delany are the two bowlers that can maybe pick up a few wickets but the Irish attack is more about waiting for mistakes from the batters instead of forcing them to make mistakes.

Gaby Lewis, Leah Paul, Mary Waldron, Shauna Kavanagh, Rachel Delaney, Arlene Kelly, Sophie MacMahon, Georgina Dempsey, Sarah Forbes, Jane Maguire, Cara Murray.

South Africa Women

South Africa lost the first T20 it played against Ireland on this tour and has since been absolutely dominant. That difference between the two teams has only gotten more obvious as the number of overs has increased. The fifty-over format tests the depth of a team and that is where South Africa Women have a massive advantage over Ireland.

Shabnim Ismail with the ball may be the spearhead but she has Ayabonga Khaka, Nadine de Klerk, and Sune Luus also for support.

Similarly, Laura Wolvaardt attracts the most attention as a batter but Lara Goodall, Andrie Steyn, Chloe Tyron, and Sune Luus all add a lot of depth to the lineup.

South Africa will need to have a really really bad day to end up losing an ODI to Ireland right now.

Pitch and Conditions

The conditions have been quite good for cricket. There is a bit of rain around but we should hopefully be able to get a full match in. The pitch has been a bit on the slower side but absolutely flat. This has played into the hands of the South Africans since their batters are able to take advantage. South Africa also has the bowlers to be able to take wickets on any wicket while Ireland does not.

IREW vs RSAW Betting Tips

We are going to bet on another South Africa Women win. There is little to no value in betting on South Africa pre-match so your best chance would be to wait for the odds to improve during the match. There is a good chance that the odds do not rise enough at any stage in the match but that is something you will have to wait and see.

Bet on South Africa Women to win.
