Alex Hales has been in prime form in the tournament so far and has an optimal opportunity to make use of that to make it count this match. He has looked good so far and with Islamabad United not having a need to take undue risk, Hales looks all set to score a fine fifty today. A punt of Hales scoring a total of 47 runs here seems a lucrative option.

It's all happening in Pakistan Super League. For the tenth time in the row, the team batting second emerged victorious in this edition of PSL. While the tournament is getting better and tighter with every passing day, some predictability is getting into the picture as well. With Islamabad's loss in the recent match, this belief regarding the importance of toss got even stronger.

Islamabad United are now set to take on Quetta Gladiators in a bid to resume their winning run in the tournament. Quetta Gladiators, on the other hand, are yet to get off the mark and will be desperate to register a win here. The upcoming match is set to be played at the National Stadium, Karachi, on 1st March 2021.
After a loss to Peshawar Zalmi, Islamabad United will be ruing their luck. They had the opportunity to establish themselves at the top of the points table a flawless record, but they instead dropped down to the fourth spot. Having said that, they are still in a decent position because they have played one game less than the teams that are above them on the ladder. Another win here should push Islamabad United back into the driver's seat and that's exactly what they'll be aiming for.
Their loss in the previous match may very well be seen as a one-off anomaly, but it certainly highlighted a few very important points. Even though they bat deep, they lack quality in their middle order. With an army of all-rounders, Islamabad United may have to ponder upon their batting lineup going forward. Asif Ali batting at number eight doesn't make a lot of sense and the role of Shadab Khan is very hazy. Almost all of their batsmen have done well thus far, but lack of clarity regarding their roles is certainly a recipe for failure.
With so many all-rounders and all of them being pretty capable with the ball, Islamabad United's strength clearly lies with the ball. They have a decent contingent of bowlers and it was reflected with the way they went about defending a 118 runs total in the last match. Although they weren't successful, they did enough to scare Peshawar Zalmi before the latter won the game.
On paper, Islamabad United are an immaculately balanced side. They have an explosive top-order, which is capable of tearing bowlers apart. If they can fire in the upcoming match, the Gladiators will be in for yet another tough haul.
Rohail Nazir, AD Hales, PR Stirling, Asif Ali, Hussain Talat, Iftikhar Ahmed, Shadab Khan, Faheem Ashraf, Mohammad Wasim Jr, Hasan Ali, Muhammad Musa.
Quetta Gladiators are arguably the worst-performing side in the tournament thus far and their position on the points table reflects that. They are not only languishing at the bottom of the table but have a terrible net run-rate of -1.53. Two of three of their losses have come in without them putting in any fight whatsoever. Going by the way they've done, they'll do well even to put up a fight against Islamabad United.
Quetta Gladiators looked rusty since the beginning of the tournament as they collapsed for 121 against Karachi Kings in the first match of the competition, eventually losing the match by seven wickets. In the next match, the Qalandars rampaged past their bowlers as Quetta Gladiators lost even after scoring a very respectable total of 178. It was most-recently that Quetta Gladiators came close to winning a match, but they failed to hold their nerves
While Gladiators have a side that is high on experience, they lack swash-buckling batsmen who can impose themselves on the oppositions. Barring Faf du Plessis, none of their batsmen are known for their batting much. Sarfaraz Khan has although looked in good form, his consistency is going to be a key thing to monitor going forward. On paper, the Gladiators have a decent side but might have to play out of their skins to get past Islamabad United.
Sarfraz Ahmed, Azam Khan, Faf du Plessis, C Delport, Saim Ayub, Ben Cutting, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Hasnain, DW Steyn, Naseem Shah, Zahid Mahmood.
The two sides taking on each other in the upcoming contest are having a contrasting run in the tournament. Even though the difference between the two sides on the ladder is just of two places, Islamabad United have done a lot better than Quetta Gladiators in the tournament so far. Apart from that, they have power-packed players available right through the lineup whereas the Gladiators are dependent overly on a couple of players. For those reasons, Islamabad United walk into the upcoming game as firm favorites.
