JMS vs WIE Match Prediction - Nov 14, 2022

The Jamaica Scorpions will face the West Indies Emerging Players team on Monday, in what will be the last match in the group stages of the ongoing season of the Super50 Cup in the West Indies.

Most cricket betting sites are predicting a win for the Jamaica Scorpions by giving short odds for their victory. While we would have liked to see better odds, the poor form of the Academy players makes it highly unlikely that they will win.

JMS vs WIE Team Previews

Jamaica Scorpions

The season has been a bit of a mixed bag for the Scorpions. While they lost 2 of their first 3 matches, they go into this contest on the back of 2 consecutive victories. As a result, they are second on the Zone B table, and have a pretty good chance of making it into the semi-finals.

Opener Brandon King has been a consistent performer at the top of the order and has played an important role in his team’s success. Rovman Powell too has been pretty consistent lower down the order but hasn’t received much support from the batsmen around him. Dennis Bulli has by far been the best bowler within the squad and is also the leading wicket-taker this season. Odean Smith, while being good with the ball, hasn’t scored many runs.

Andre McCarthy, Brandon King, Alwyn Williams, Jamie Merchant, Nicholson Gordon, Pete Salmon, CAK Walton, Javelle Glen, Jeavor Royal, Odean Smith, Rovman Powell.

West Indies Emerging

The West Indies Emerging Players have had a pretty disappointing season so far. With just 1 win to show from 5 matches, its hopes of making it to the next stage are now extinguished.

Much was expected of Kevin Wickham and Teddy Bishop after their exploits in the U19 World Cup earlier this year. However, none of them have been consistent. The same can be said about Keagan Simmons and the other batsmen. Many of them have got decent starts, but have failed to go on and play big innings.

The same has been the case with bowling, where none of the bowlers have been standout performers. Joshua Bishop and Joshua James both have 8 wickets against their names, but they haven’t received support from the other bowlers.

Ackeem Auguste, Ashmead Nedd, Carlon Bowen Tuckett, Kelvon Anderson, Kevin Omar Wickham, Kirk McKenzie, McKenny Clarke, Nyeem Young, Teddy Bishop, Joshua Bishop, Keagan Simmons.

Pitch and Conditions

The pitch at North Sound is not known to be a high scoring one, and any score above 230 will be difficult to chase.

There will be some movement of the seam, especially for the medium pacers. The weather is expected to remain humid and warm, with temperatures in the higher 20s. While not many showers are predicted, dew might play a role, especially in the second innings.

JMS vs WIE Betting Tips

We are backing Jamaica to win this game. After a sedate start, the team seems to have found its rhythm just at the right time. While they lost the last match against the Emerging Players, the chances of that happening again look pretty remote. The batsmen, especially Brandon King and Powell are in good touch, and the team looks well-balanced.

Bet on a Jamaica Scorpions win.

The West Indies Academy batting hasn’t been up to the mark this season. The strike rate of both the openers is pretty low, and they will take time to adjust to the slow pitch at North Sound. The bowling from Jamaica has been good in the last couple of matches. We are therefore likely to see a dot ball at the start of Academy’s innings.
