JSKS vs PC Match Prediction - Jan 17, 2023

The Joburg Super Kings have played three matches and lost two out of them. They sit right at the bottom of the SA 20 2023 standings with the worst net run rate to their name as well. Things are not looking good for the Joburg Super Kings at the moment and it looks like they will have to make a few changes.

They are up against the Pretoria Capitals in this next match. The Capitals have won both their matches so far and have a great chance of going to the top of the standings with a win in this match.

The odds on offer for the Pretoria Capitals are obviously shorter than the Joburg Super Kings but not by as much of a margin as we expected. Let us take a closer look at the two teams.

JSKS vs PC Team Previews

Joburg Super Kings

The Joburg Super Kings have been woeful with the bat. They have lost three or more wickets in the powerplay of all of their matches so far and they also have the worst boundary count of any team (a very important predictor of success in T20 cricket). Teams also seem to be targeting the JSK top-3 with left-arm spin with ease.

We think it is clear that JSK will need to make a few changes to its lineup otherwise it risks making the same mistakes again and again.

At the moment, the batting lineup of JSK seems in pretty poor form and we don't feel comfortable putting any faith in it.

Among the bowlers, Alzarri Joseph is clearly the best that JSK has but the rest of the lineup has not been very impressive. George Garton, Romario Shepherd, and Aaron Phangiso are among the most expensive bowlers used by JSK. None of the bowlers (including Joseph) has more than two wickets in SA 20 2023 so far.

JSK is struggling and is not in a good position right now.

Joburg Super Kings Playing 11

Faf du Plessis, Reeza Hendricks, Leus du Plooy, Sibonelo Makhanya, Kyle Verreynne, Donovan Ferreira, Romario Shepherd, Gerald Coetzee, Alzarri Joseph, Maheesh Theekshana, Aaron Phangiso.

Pretoria Capitals

Investing in young English talent seems to have paid off for the Pretoria Capitals. Phil Salt in the first match and then Will Jacks in the second have blazed away at the top to ensure they ended up with massive winning scores on both occasions.

Wayne Parnell has also used his resources quite smartly including making impact performances himself at key times.

The Pretoria Capitals have played just two matches but it is significant to see that five of their batters are striking the ball at over 140 and their six-hitting average per match is also among the highest in SA 20. The approach of the Pretoria Capitals is the right one to take in modern T20 cricket.

Anrich Nortje, Ethan Bosch, Migael Pretorius, and Wayne Parnell all form a very strong South African pace bowling core. Nortje, so far, has been the best in terms of picking wickets and the economy rate. Adil Rashid also has picked up wickets but his economy rate is quite high and close to 12.00 per over.

Pitch and Conditions

This is the first match that will be played at the Wanderers in SA 20 2023. It will be interesting to see what kind of pitch is on offer. We expect a fast surface with some help for the fast-bowlers and not too much encouragement for the spinners. Once it flattens out, the batters should be able to take full toll.

JSKS vs PC Betting Tips

The odds being offered for the Pretoria Capitals are surprisingly high at the moment. We think you can look to back them to win this match and subject the Joburg Super Kings to a fourth consecutive loss in SA 20 2023. The Pretoria Capitals have batted much better and the bowing lineup is also very strong.

Bet on the Pretoria Capitals to win.
