Joburg Super Kings
The Joburg Super Kings have had a bumpy ride this season and are currently 4th on the points table. One of the major reasons for this underwhelming performance has been an under-par performance by most of their batsmen, barring a few.
However, they did manage to make some amends in their previous outing against the Durban Super Giants as Reeza Hendricks and Faf du Plessis put up a 157-run partnership for the opening wicket. Du Plessis scored a brilliant century and remained unbeaten on 113 of just 58 deliveries to help the Super Kings chase down the target of 179 in the final over of the match.
Leus du Plooy has been a solid performer in the middle order but Donavon Ferreira hasn’t fully lived up to his reputation. The team has a couple of handy all-rounders including Romario Shepherd and Neil Brand but they haven’t been in the best of forms so far. The team has signed up Matthew Wade for the remainder of the season and it will be interesting to see how he performs.
With Aaron Phangiso suspended for suspected bowling action, the Super Kings will now be heavily reliant on Maheesh Theekshana to deliver the goods during the middle overs. They do have plenty of seam options though.
Gerald Coetzee is the leading wicket-taker in the squad with 11 wickets while Romario Shepherd and Alzarri Joseph have picked up 9 wickets between them.

Paarl Royals
With just 2 matches to go for them, the Paarl Royals will be desperate to win this game to further cement their position in the top 4 on the points table. The fact that they have already defeated the Super Kings once this season will be a good confidence booster for them.
Like their opponents, the Royals too have been rather inconsistent this season but have won their last 2 matches. Jos Buttler and David Miller have by far been the best batsmen in the squad, with the former being the leading run-scorer of this tournament. However, the other batsmen have failed to make a big impact. Wihan Lubbe, Dane Vilas, and Mitchell van Buuren have all struggled to score runs.
Andile Phehlukwayo played his first match of the season during the team’s latest outing and bowled an excellent spell of 2 for 26. He, along with Lungi Ngidi, will play a key role in the upcoming games. The spin duo of Evan Jones and Bjorn Fortuin are in superb form and have taken a total of 25 wickets between them.
Tabraiz Shamsi hasn’t been consistent this time around and more will be expected from him in these last few matches.
