The Jamaica Tallawahs and the St.Lucia Zouks have both lost their opening two matches of the Caribbean Premier League. The action now shifts to Jamaica as both teams will be trying their best to get off the mark.
The Jamaica Tallawahs came into CPL 2019 with one of the strongest squads on board and were expected to dominate the proceedings. That has not happened so far. The St. Lucia Zouks were always expected to struggle this season.
Will home advantage be enough to lift the spirits of the Jamaica Tallawahs or will the St. Lucia Zouks capitalize on a side out of form?
Jamaica Tallawahs vs St. Lucia Zouks CPL 2019 is going to be played at Sabina Park, Kingston, Jamaica on the 13th of September 2019.
No side had managed to lose after scoring 241 in CPL history and so it would be reasonable to assume that the Tallawahs would have been bitterly disappointed after the previous match. They flexed their batting muscles and showed just big they can go but the bowlers could not follow that up with a disciplined performance.
Chris Gayle rolled back the years to score 116 from just 62 deliveries with ten sixes included. He has been very aggressive from the start and we think he looks good to carry on this form for the rest of the tournament as well.
Chadwick Walton and Andre Russell played very well in the time they spent at the crease. None of the batsmen can be faulted for scoring 241 for 4 and we are sure the Jamaica Tallawahs will not tinker with this aspect of their game ahead of the next match.
The bowling for the Jamaica Tallawahs is pretty weak and that is something that they need to work on. Oshane Thomas, Andre Russell, and Jerome Taylor could not bowl a single yorker between them. The Tallawahs have no big-name spinner to speak of and that is a weakness that is going to follow them throughout CPL 2019.
The bowlers are up against a weaker batting lineup in this match but they will still need to be much better to give the Tallawahs a chance.
Chris Gayle, GD Phillips, CAK Walton, Rovman Powell, George Worker, Andre Russell, Shamar Springer, Derval Green, Jerome Taylor, Ramaal Lewis, Oshane Thomas.
The participation of Thisara Perera has come into doubt after the Sri Lankan cricket board revoked his No Objection Certificate. It is not clear if things will be sorted out before the start of the match and that is why we are not including him in our assessment of the side.
The St. Lucia Zouks have struggled to get enough runs on the bard in their previous two matches. The batting looks a lot weaker than the Jamaica Tallawahs although there are some dangerous players in their side as well.
Rakheem Cornwall is one of the best pinch-hitters we have seen going around. He strike-rate is better than any other opening batsman of CPL 2019 and he is quite consistent as well. If Andre Fletcher, John Fletcher, and Darren Sammy can get into the act as well then the St. Lucia Zouks have a chance of getting a good total.
The potential loss of Thisara Perera is going to hurt them since he is a vital player in the batting and the bowling departments.
The bowling department of the St.Lucia Zouks is pretty decent. Obed McCoy was one of the finds of the CPL last season and his reputation as a dependable death bowler only grows stronger. Fawad Ahmed is a very good leg-spinner that has played T20 cricket around the world while Kesrick Williams, Rakheem Cornwall, Darren Sammy, and Kavem Hodge round things out.
The lack of genuine pace in the side is something that the St.Lucia Zouks will be aware of and that could hurt them against the powerful Jamaica Tallawahs batting.
DJG Sammy, ADS Fletcher , John Campbell, Rahkeem Cornwall, Roland Cato, Colin de Grandhomme, Thisara Perera, KOK Williams, Hardus Viljoen, Obed McCoy, Fawad Ahmed.
The team that wins the toss is likely to want to bat first and take advantage of a good batting surface

Jamaica Tallawahs vs St. Lucia Zouks CPL 2019 is going to be played at Sabina Park, Kingston, Jamaica on the 13th of September 2019. The weather forecast says we can expect a clear, sunny day on match day. Jamaica’s playing surface was fast and bouncy when the West Indies played its test match against India, just a week back. We expect the same kind of surface for this match.
The batsmen will like the ball coming on to the bat and there should be plenty of runs. A score of about 180 can be considered par for the surface, especially if the Jamaica Tallawahs bat first.
The Jamaica Tallawahs are playing at home with a much stronger batting unit. Its bowling is a little suspect but St.Lucia’s batting is not strong enough to take advantage of that. We think the Tallawahs will get their first win of CPL 2019 in this match.
Bet on the Jamaica Tallawahs to win.
