The return of Andre Russell meant that some changes had to be made in the bowling lineup for the Jamaica Tallawahs. For some strange reason, the team management decided to move away from what had worked for them in the previous match and went back to some of its most expensive bowlers.

Oshane Thomas gave away 58 runs in four overs without taking a wicket, Zahir Khan gave away 26 in his two, Jade Dernbach went for 50 in his four overs, and only Andre Russell and Dwayne Smith had some control over the scoring rate.

The Jamaica Tallawahs have the poorest performing bowling attack in the Caribbean Premier League. No amount of batting muscle is going to be able to compensate for such performances and that is exactly what has been happening.

Chasing 219, the Jamaica Tallawahs never really got going and were bowled out for 137.

Glenn Phillips and Andre Russell were the only two batsmen to be able to make an impact and there was a glimmer of hope when both of them were batting together. The high-risk method of Andre Russell’s batting means that a lot of chances are created whenever he is at the crease.

It is only because of the poor standards of fielding that he is being able to get away for so long.

The Jamaica Tallawahs have not been able to convert their best batting performances into wins and now it looks like the batsmen are falling out of form as well.

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots

The Patriots have won their previous two matches and are building some nice momentum in CPL 2019. It took an astonishing all-round performance from Carlos Brathwaite to pull his team to victory against the Trinbago Knight Riders.

That match ended in a tie after the regulation 20 overs and had to be settled in a Super Over. Carlos Brathwaite took two wickets and scored 64 runs during the regulation time and then followed it up with a match-winning performance in the Super Over.

His good form is a very big bonus for the Patriots especially since Evin Lewis is also performing with the bat.

Lewis seems to do well when the target in front of him is big because he has no option but to play freely. That is exactly what he should look to do against the Jamaica Tallawahs as well. Evin Lewis led his side’s chase brilliantly the last time these two teams met and would have very pleasant memories of that encounter.

Devon Thomas, Mohammad Hafeez, Laurie Evans, and Fabian Allen give the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots some good depth in the batting while the bowling is going to be led by Sheldon Cottrell, Rayad Emrit, and Carlos Brathwaite.
