Kandy Falcons have had an excellent start to the tournament, winning both of their opening two matches. Thanks to their superb net run-rate, they are placed at the top of the points table with four points to their name. A win here will further their stand on the ladder, taking them to an even stronger position. They have done exceedingly well in both departments of the game and will now be looking to add some more wins under their belt.
They started off their campaign with a strong win in their opening match as they scored a mammoth total of 199 before they restricted their opponents to a total of just 90. More recently though, they defeated Galle Gladiators in another one sided contest. Chasing a total of 121, they shut down the chase with five wickets and as many overs to spare, adding more to their already strong net run-rate.
On paper, the Falcons have a terrific side, thanks to their battery of all-rounders. Not only that, they have a terrific composition loaded with T20 veterans and experienced players. The presence of Carlos Brathwaite and Waning Hasaranga further add to their balance.
All in all, they have a strong side on paper and are coming into this match on the back of a solid run. They will be brimming with confidence and will be a tough side to take on. If they are able to play to their potential here in this match as well, getting past them could prove to be a colossal challenge.

Just like Kandy Falcons, Jaffna Kings have gotten off to a terrific start. It’s only because of their net run-rate that they are placed at the second spot on the ladder. They have a net run-rate of 1.412 coupled with two wins from two matches, totaling to four points. A win here will push them to the top of the table and that is exactly what they will be looking for.
They are coming off a win over Galle Gladiators and Dambulla Aura and will want to continue to build on their form. Their batting looked ordinary in the first match but they quickly found their form back as they chased down a total of 121 with nine wickets to spare in their subsequent match. All said, their bowling has looked fantastic right through the tournament thus far.
On paper, they have a side with plenty of options to bowl. However, with no one play the slam, bang, and wallop brand of cricket, which can be a limitation in a high-scoring game. Having said that, they have a long batting unit that can compensate for the lack of firepower. If they are able to get off to a swashbuckling start, they should be well in business.
