About the Match
On Tuesday 16th April, 2013 when the Bengal originated team Kolkata Knight Riders travel all the way to Mohali for their clash against the local team, it will be, broadly, a contest between the young blood of future international stage players from Punjab and immensely experienced ones from the Knight Riders. Though both the teams will be looking forward to this match as yet another pass to the next round but the Kings will be hopeful that the home crowd does not walk back home disheartened and move up the points tally and give a red signal to the opponents.
Kings XI Punjab:
With a win in their opening game, and a total downfall against the Chennai Super Kings in the very next game, Kings Punjab must have geared up with all the plans and strategies on how to deal with the defending champions. One thing for which everyone is waiting till now and what can just get the crowd on their feet is nothing but the much expected fire explosions from captain Gilchrist. Also the team has found a promising batsman in the face of Manan Vohra who though went cheaply in the second game but is still a center of interest of many. All in all, batting unit still looks convincing for the team but the main issues are regarding the bowling line up which has depressed a bit till now.
KKR features one of the best pace bowlers and one of the best all-rounders in the history of game. In addition to that, they have a lot of options when it comes to bowling including the likes of L.Balaji and Rajat Bhatia. The depth in batting of SRK owned team is quite visible with the presence of talented former Indian batsmen Manvinder Bisla and Manoj Tiwari. And when it comes to the bowling, it’s not only Brett Lee who poses the problems but also the West Indian spin wizard Sunil Narine. They won their game against Hyderabad with all major batsmen coming to the party.
Kings XI Punjab lost yet another game against Rajasthan Royals and they now sit near the bottom of the table. They’ve been bowled out twice which clearly exemplifies their batting problems. On the contrary, the defending champions are beginning to take off from where they left in the last season. Their batting seemed a little down and out, but with last win, all the problems appear to be sorted out. Kings XI may have home advantage, but it’s a short game and KKR definitely appears to be a better side. In my opinion, it’s better to place money on KKR.
