The PSL 2020 Final is here and we have two first-time finalists competing for the prize. That is the best thing that could have happened for the tournament and shows that the Pakistan Super League is coming of age.
The Karachi Kings and the Lahore Qalandars are going to be taking on each other in the PSL Final.
Both teams have won their most recent matches convincingly and have the credentials to win. Can Babar Azam lead his Karachi Kings, the de-fact home side, to a win or will the Lahore Qalandars script one of the best turnaround in PSL history?
Let us try to look at the available data objectively.
Karachi Kings vs Lahore Qalandars PSL 2020 Final is going to be played at the National Stadium, Karachi on the 17th of November 2020.
The Karachi Kings seemed to be doing everything perfectly in their Qualifier against the Multan Sultans but then suffered a dramatic collapse, the importance of Babar Azam to any side is obvious but especially so in this Karachi Kings lineup that does not have too much depth.
Alex Hales is a massive player to watch out for. He also seems to love performing at the biggest stage and will want to use this platform to try and raise his hand for the World T20 in five months.
Sharjeel Khan is dangerous but inconsistent, Iftikhar Ahmed is in poor touch, and the likes of Chadwick Walton, Sherfane Rutherford, and Wayne Parnell are difficult to depend upon. The Kings need Babar Azam to score one more time for them to lift the title.
Imad Wasim, Mohammad Amir, and Waqas Maqsood bowled pretty well in the previous match. Mohammad Ami continues to be deprived of wickets but only a brave man would bet against him being at his best in the PSL Final.
He is another player that seems to raise his game for the big stage.
Wayne Parnell got some tap in the final overs but he is a good bowler to have to round out your attack as well.
The Karachi Kings have most bases covered and it is now a question of delivering on their potential.
AD Hales, Babar Azam, Sharjeel Khan, CAK Walton, Iftikhar Ahmed, SI Wasim, Sherfane Rutherford, Umaid Asif, Mohammad Amir, Arshad Iqbal, Waqas Maqsood.
The Lahore Qalandars are the team of the PSL this season. They have been wonderfully inconsistent but have recovered from a terrible start to now be one good performance away from the title.
No one can deny that the Lahore Qalandars have a better bowling attack than the Karachi Kings. Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Dilbar Hussain have been excellent for the Qalandars. They will be coming at Babar Azam hard knowing that his wicket could mean the game.
With an in-form David Wiese, Samit Patel, and Mohammad Hafeez also in the lineup, there is no shortage of options for the Lahore Qalandars.
The real challenge for the Lahore Qalandars is going to be to continue its good batting form. Mohammad Hafeez rescued them with a brilliant inning in the Eliminator and David Wiese did the same in the second Qualifier.
One more batsman needs to do the same thing for the Lahore Qalandars in this next match.
The form of Fakhar Zaman is a big concern. He got 46 runs in the previous match but has been struggling off late. The Qalandars need him to come up with something that we all know he is capable of and get a big one.
Fakhar Zaman, Tamim Iqbal, Sohail Akhtar, Mohammad Hafeez, Ben Dunk, SR Patel, D Wiese, Muhammad Faizan, Shaheen Afridi, Dilbar Hussain, Haris Rauf.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to field first. We have seen conditions remain more or less the same throughout the match but the ball does come on to bat better as the dew comes down.

The conditions in Karachi have been flat and a bit slow but the batsmen seem to enjoy batting under lights. We saw well over 350 runs hit in the two matches starting at 8 and the same can be expected in this match. The fast bowlers may have some help initially but overall the bowlers have to toil hard.
A score of around 170 can be seen as par batting first.
We think the Karachi Kings are the favorites to win this contest. They have a stronger batting lineup and more people with big-match experience. They should be able to get the job done in front of their home crowd.
Bet on the Karachi Kings to win.
