This next match between the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Kings XI Punjab team is one of the most awaited contests of IPL 2020. The tournament seems to be progressing in such a way that three out of the four playoff positions seem locked-in. The current front-runners for the final playoff spot are KKR and KXIP.
They both won their previous match and are going to be in good spirits heading into this all-important encounter. If KKR wins the match it is probably going to make it into the playoffs. If, however, KXIP manages to win then we are set for a thrilling race till the final match of the IPL 2020 season.
Add to this the fact that the match is going to be played in Sharjah and we have even more to look forward to. The pitch at Sharjah may have slowed down a little but the boundaries remain as tempting as ever. There are some terrific big-hitters on both sides to take advantage of those.
KKR vs KXIP IPL 2020 is going to be played at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah on the 26th of October 2020.
KKR played the best game it could possibly have dreamed of as it got past DC with ease. There is no doubt that everything clicked for KKR on that day but if we look a little closer, we can still find some serious issues with the team balance.
Let us assume that KKR is not going to want to change a winning combination and will go into the match with the same team. That means KKR is going into the match with five bowlers and Sunil Narine as the all-rounder.
Narine may have scored runs against DC but it is difficult to really bank on him for runs after his poor form this season. The batting is very thin with Gill, Rana, Tripathi, Karthik, and Morgan as the genuine batters.
Shubman Gill is having a bit of a tough time at the top of the order. His strike-rate has come under pressure and he has been asked to be more assertive at the top of the order. Whether he is able to follow those instructions or not comfortably remains to be seen.
Nitsih Rana has one good inning to his name, Rahul Tripathi has looked out of his depth in recent matches, and Dinesh Karthik has struggled as well.
We can see KKR’s batting collapse under a bit of pressure pretty easily.
The addition of Lockie Ferguson has added a lot of teeth to the bowling. Pat Cummins also bowled very well against DC and picked up three wickets, his entire total for IPL 2020 up until that point.
Varun Chakravarthy’s five wickets cannot be discounted but he had all the conditions going in his favor. Prasidh Krishna and Kamlesh Nagarkoti are decent but not great and Sunil Narine is under scrutiny for his bowling.
KKR is a good team that had everything go for it in the previous match. That is not always going to happen and this is why we would be very wary of putting our faith in their camp.
Shubman Gill, Nitish Rana, RA Tripathi, Dinesh Karthik, Eoin Morgan, SP Narine, Pat Cummins, Lockie Ferguson, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Prasidh Krishna, Varun Chakravarthy.
KXIP has four wins in a row coming into this match, the exact same number of games Chris Gayle has played for them this season. They also managed to win without Mayank Aggarwal in the previous game. He should be fit to come back for this next game and that will only add to their strength.
KXIP has a very strong batting lineup. Lokesh Rahul, Mayank Aggarwal, Chris Gayle, Nicholas Pooran, and possibly Glenn Maxwell form a blockbuster batting lineup. Glen Maxwell has been very poor this season, though, and KXIP may be tempted to switch him out for someone like Jimmy Neesham.
There is no doubt that the six-hitting prowess in KXIP is far better than what KKR has at its disposal.
Perhaps the biggest improvement in KXIP’s performance has been its bowling. Chris Jordan seems to have found his radar and young Arshdeep Singh has been very effective in the death overs as well.
With Glenn Maxwell, M Ashwin, and Ravi Bishnoi, KXIP also has a lot of spin options to use throughout the inning. Mohammad Shami is the spearhead up front and Deepak Hooda is Indian batsman to round things out in the playing eleven.
KXIP has found a nice balance to its side and is able to perform consistently. The form of its senior batsmen is also a huge advantage. We think the recent confidence of winning close games would have done a world of good for KXIP as well.
Lokesh Rahul, Mandeep Singh, Chris Gayle, Nicholas Pooran, Glenn Maxwell, Deepak Hooda, Chris Jordan, Murugan Ashwin, Ravi Bishnoi, Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh.
We think KKR will want to bat first if it wins the toss and KXIP will want to field first if it wins the toss. That is the way that both teams have been successful in recent games.

The pitch in Sharjah has become a lot slower than what we saw at the beginning of IPL 2020. The batsmen has to be aware of the challenge that the bowlers throw at them and it is no longer about just clearing the boundaries. That being said, a batsman can really cause havoc once they get set.
Totals in recent matches have come down in Sharjah but we still think that teams batting first would like something in the region of 180 to feel comfortable defending.

We are going to stick with the in-form KXIP in this contest. They should be able to ask some tougher questions of KKR and avoid making the mistakes that DC made. KKR’s batting is think and if they stick to their same playing eleven as in the last match, it is just a matter of time before they find themselves in trouble.
Bet on the Kings XI Punjab to win.
Our Favorite Bets
Chris Gayle Total Sixes - Over 0.5 ($1.45) (Betway)
This bet has paid out so consistently and so many times that the odds have started to come down. We will still take a 45$ return on our stake by betting on Chris Gayle hitting one six. He is in great form and playing this next match in Sharjah. This bet is an absolute no-brainer.
Team Highest 1st 6 Overs - KXIP ($1.76) (ComeOn)
Lokesh Rahul and Mayank Aggarwal are the best opening pair of IPL 2020. Both the players are in excellent form and strike the ball cleanly from the start. KKR, on the other hand, is struggling with its starts with Shubman Gill not at his fluent best. KXIP also has Gayle to come in at three and take advantage of the powerplay if needed.
Glenn Maxwell to Hit 1 + Six and Take A Wicket ($3.8) (1xBet)
Glenn Maxwell has been in terrible batting form and so this bet is a risky one. That is also the reason why you are getting such good odds on it. Maxwell has been bowling in the powerplay consistently and we think he is due to get some runs under his belt as well. The odds make this worth the bet.
Highest Opening Partnership - KXIP ($1.80) (10Cric)
This is an easy one in our opinion. We expect Mayank Aggarwal to be back for this match and to reprise his pairing with KL Rahul. KKr is struggling with its opening pair and we don't think sending Nitish Rana to start the inning is going to pay off consistently.
