KN vs WPR Match Prediction - Oct 19, 2021

After a long tussle that had almost all the top-level domestic teams from South Africa fighting for the knockout spots, we finally have our eight quarter-finalists. All four quarter-finals are to be played over the course of the next two days - Tuesday and Wednesday. All eight teams are packed with super talent and these are expected to be cracking games.

The second of the four matches to be played over the next two days is to be played between the Knights and Western Province at Diamond Oval, Kimberley on 19th October 2021. The two sides did fairly well in the group stage and should make up for a mouth-watering contest.

KN vs WPR Team Previews

Knights

The Knights were not only one of the best teams in the group stage, but they are also one of the firm favorites to get the title. They had a terrific run in the group stage as they remained unbeaten and scored 11 points in total coming with two wins and no losses. Their dominance in the group stage can be seen by their superb net run rate, which was 1.110.

Knight's most important match in the group stage was arguably their match against the Titans and they won that match with considerable ease. As had been the case in the tournament up until then, the bowlers were remarkably good as they restricted Titans to just 143. The likes of Rilee Rossouw, Farhaan Behardien, and Jacques Snyman batted brilliantly to overhaul the total with Knights having four wickets in hand and five deliveries to spare.

Overall, the Knights are in terrific form and have a strong team on paper to complement their form. They have ample experience needed for the knockouts and if the usual suspects are able to deliver the goods for them, beating them is going to be extremely difficult.

Knights Playing 11

PJ van Biljon, Rilee Rossouw, Farhaan Behardien, Jacques Snyman, Alfred Mothoa, Gregory Mahlokwana, Migael Pretorius, Nealan van Heerden, Gerald Coetzee, Wandile Makwetu, Patrick Kruger.

Western Province

Even though Western Province did not manage to finish at the top of the table, they were certainly as good as the Knights in the group stage. They finished second in Group A, but their second position had more to do with the difficulty level of their group than their own performance.

Eventually, Western Province ended up winning two matches and finished second with a net run rate of 0.171. Their only loss came against South Western Dragons, who managed to just edge past Western Province with a three-wicket win. In their last match, Western Province defeated Northern Cape and will be brimming with confidence coming into this match.

Western Province have decent experience available at their disposal with the likes of Beuran Hendricks, Zubayr Hamza, Wayne Parnell, Tony de Zorzi, and Kyle Verreynne available. They do have a slightly inexperienced bowling unit that can be found out on good batting surfaces. All in all, they have a decent side and if the experienced players get decent support from the others, beating them will prove to be a colossal task.

Aviwe Mgijima, Basheer Walters, Jonathan Bird, Kyle Simmonds, Kyle Verreynne, Nandre Burger, Tony de Zorzi, TL Moreki, Wayne Parnell, Zubayr Hamza, David Bedingham.

Being a knockout fixture, it is needless to say that this is an important fixture. Both sides did reasonably well in the group stage and will still need to step up in the match that matters the most.
