These are still early days in the Momentum One Day Cup, but we have already seen points table shuffle a bit. Dolphins, who started off a brilliant note, have slipped down to the third spot with other teams doing so well. They will be looking to get back to the top of the ladder with a win in their next game, which is to be played against Knights, on 14th February at Mangaung Oval, Bloemfontein. Knights have struggled in the tournament and considering the kind of run they have had in the limited overs versions of the game, the challenge is not going to be easy for them. Having said that, they are a capable side and are likely to come out all guns blazing.
Knights have been the worst team of the tournament so far and have lost both of the two matches they have played. They are languishing at the bottom of the points table and have a ridiculously poor net run-rate of -1.565.
After losing to Dolphins in their first match, wherein their batting fell like a house of cards, the Knights' batting failed to produce anything of substance against Warriors as well. Their bowlers did a wonderful job of keeping Warriors to a total of just 212 after rain cut the game short to 42 overs. Shaun von Berg and Tshepo Ntuli bowled brilliantly and returned with the respective figures of 3 for 31 and 3 for 46 in nine overs each.
Their chase, however, never looked planned as their top-order batsmen all fell while trying to force the issue. There was a bit of a fight shown by their skipper, W Makwetu, but no support from others kept Knights a long way away from the required total. Knights were dismissed completely in 37.2 overs after scoring 164, losing the match by 50 runs.
Wandile Makwetu, Keegan Petersen, AGS Gous, Raynard van Tonder, Obus Pienaar, G Jacques Snyman, Shaun von Berg, Shadley van Schalkwyk, Mbulelo Budaza, T Ntuli, Ottneil Baartman.
Dolphins announced themselves in this edition of the tournament with a massive win over Knights in their first match and then followed it up with a win and loss. They are now placed at the third spot on the ladder with an excellent net run-rate of 0.735.
In their most recent encounter, against the Cobras, they faced a narrow defeat as they failed to chase down a readjusted total in a rain-inflicted encounter. Bowling first on an overcast day, Cobras' bowlers failed to have any impact whatsoever on Dolphins as Cobras found themselves in a particularly good position after the first half. Prenelan Subrayen was their most effective bowler, but he, too, gave away runs at an economy rate of 5.8 in his ten overs. He picked up two wickets in the process.
In reply, the Dolphins got off to a fine start with Sarel Erwee and Grant Roelofsen adding 74 runs for the first wicket. Vaughn van Jaasrsveld and Khaya Zondo contributed with quick cameos to keep them afloat, but the wickets of Robbie Frylicnk, and Keshav Maharaj set them back. The Dolphins eventually lost the match by a narrow margin of 5 runs.
Grant Roelofsen, VBV Jaarsveld, Sarel Erwee, Khaya Zondo, Marques Ackerman, R Frylinck, Senuran Muthusamy, Sibonelo Makhanya, P Subrayen, Kerwin Mungroo, K Maharaj.

The two sides have had contrasting runs respectively in the tournament so far. While the Knights have been terrible with the bat, the Dolphins have done pretty well in almost all departments of the game. The Dolphins are a better balanced side between the two, on paper as well, and are, therefore, firm favorites to win the upcoming encounter.
