The Knights are mounting a late challenge to try and make it to the semi-finals of the Momentum ODI Cup 2020 and now have three wins out of their previous four matches. They have to try and win both their remaining matches to have a shot of making the semis and must hope that a couple of other results go their way as well.
The Knights are going to be up against the Lions who are placed in second place in the league standings. The Lions have lost their previous two matches and seem to be losing form at just the wrong time. The Lions are still in a very good position, though, with five wins from their eight matches.
Knights vs Lions Momentum ODI Cup 2020 is going to be played at the Mangaung Oval, Bloemfontein on the 10th of March 2020.
An excellent bowling performance led by Shaun von Bergh helped the Knights restrict the Cape Cobras to a small total. The Knights then made no mistakes and chased down 173 in just over 27 overs. A confident win with nearly half the overs still remaining would have given the Knights a lot of belief about still managing to sneak into the semis.
The Knights bowlers will have to continue their good showing against the Lions as well. Jacques Snyman bowled his ten overs and gave away just 26 runs, Shaun von Bergh picked up three wickets, and Ottniel Baartman was very economical as well.
The Knights will know that the Lions batting is under pressure after a couple of poor outings and that the opportunity to roll them over exists.
Runs for Jacques Snyman, Patrick Kruger, and Keegan Peterson will leave the Knights feeling a lot better about its batting. The Knights have struggled to put in consistent performances in the Momentum ODI Cup 2020 and we remain a bit wary about the strength of the batting lineup.
Wandile Makwetu, Keegan Petersen, PJ van Biljon, AGS Gous, Grant Mokoena, Patrick Kruger, G Jacques Snyman, Shaun von Berg, Ottneil Baartman, Mbulelo Budaza, Marco Jansen.
Two losses in a row would have the Lions a little worried. They started the tournament brilliantly and almost seemed to be outperforming expectations with the fear being a reversal of fortunes once the other teams get their act together.
The Lions are all about their top-3 and all three of those players get a start in the previous match. Ryan Rickelton, Reeza Hendricks, and Dominic Hendricks all got a decent start but were unable to convert that into a match-defining performance.
Nicky ven Bergh has also been in the runs and he too got 25 but then threw away his wicket.
A lack of intent at the start of the inning held the Lions back and eventually ramped up the pressure for every player that followed.
The Lions have a decent batting lineup but they cannot let themselves be bogged down like that all the time.
The bowling was not too bad and they certainly made the Titans work for their victory. Wihan Lubbe continued his great tournament and picked up three wickets. He must surely be on the radar f the South African selectors and close to a national call up.
Aaron Phangiso and Bjorn Furtuin also bowled pretty well while the rest of the bowlers were decent. The Lions bowling just did not have enough runs to defend and so we are not going to blame them for the previous defeat.
Ryan Rickelton, Reeza Hendricks, Dominic Hendricks, Kagiso Rapulana, Wiaan Mulder, Wihan Lubbe, Delano Potgieter, Ayavuya Myoli, Aaron Phangiso, Bjorn Fortuin, Migael Pretorius.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to bat first.

A small chance of rain has been forecast in Bloemfontein for match day but that should not be anything to worry about. The pitch is expected to be good for batting although surfaces across South Africa have started slowing up.
The end of the season is approaching and all the pitches are a bit tired from having been used so much. The role of the spinners is going to be more important as the matches progress.
Dream11 tips and Dream11 predictions for Knights vs Lions Momentum ODI Cup 2020
We think the Lions are a better team than the Knights even though the recent form does not quite back that up. The Lions have a better batting lineup and their bowling is as good as what the Knights have. A small blip in their form does not deter us from backing them.
