About the Match
The Dolphins are on fourth place in the points table and are set to take on Knights at Mangaung Oval, Bloemfontein on 25th November 2016. Knights have won only one game out of the three they’ve played and a win here will take them to the third spot. Dolphins have played four matches, and it is imperative that they win this match to stay in the top half of the table. A win will take them to the second spot. The team batting first has won both the matches in this ground so far in the tournament and toss might play an important role on match-day.
Knights had a terrific start in the tournament as they registered a 38-run win against Cape Cobras. Their campaign has gone down the slope since then. They lost a close game against Titans as they failed to defend the monumental total of 185.
In their last game, they were bowled out for just 115 while chasing a total of 157 on the same ground. All their batsmen failed and no batsmen were able to survive long enough to guide the Knights home. Rudi Second and Patrick Botha top-scored for the team with 25 each. The bowlers, however, did particularly well as they restricted Warriors to a modest total. Duanne Oliver was the pick of the bowlers as he picked up a wicket for just 20 runs. Knights have a good bowling lineup with experienced de Lange and Oliver who is bowling well. They need their batting to fire and if it does, they can definitely trouble any opponent.
Just like Knights, Dolphins, too, have won just one game. However, one of their game was abandoned due to inclement weather conditions which gave them a couple of points to edge clear of other teams in the standings.
Dolphins have the experienced players like Morne van Wyk and Cameron Delport who were brilliant in their second game. They scored a massive total of 193 in that game. Other than that game, their batting has been kept rather quiet. Kevin Petersen has joined the squad and he scored just over run-a-ball 24. Their bowling struggled all but one game. They have an experienced spinner in Imran Tahir, but he hasn’t been able to be as effective as he usually is.
Overall, Dolphins have the experience in all departments with the likes of van Wyk, Delport and Petersen in batting and Imran Tahir. If they get going, like it happened against Lions, they can be a dangerous unit to deal with.
Both the teams share the same ground as far as the number of wins is concerned. However, things will change very quickly for one of the teams as standings can take a drastic turn with a win for either team. Looking at the team combination, Dolphins who have the services of experienced players of this format are more likely to emerge on the happier side of the result
