About the Match
With 8 points on board, KKR is sitting on top of the points table in group A of the on-going champions’ league tournament and will go up against Scorchers, which has 4 points from just one match played, on 24th Sep at Hyderabad. While KKR has defeated Super Kings and Lahore Lions in its two outings as of now, Scorchers show great promise as they defeated Dolphins by 6 wickets in their first game. The contest will be a tough one as both sides can deliver when it matters and will give their best to emerge victorious here.

In the last game against Lahore, the bowlers did exceptionally well to keep the pressure on the opposing batsmen and restrict them to 151 runs. Sunil Narine continues to be in top form as he picks up regular wickets and keeps the bowling tight; against the Lions, he claimed 3 wickets giving away only 9 runs, being the most economical bowlers of recent times and he is supported well by Cummins, Chawala and Kuldeep Yadav. On the batting front, Gambhir is starting to step up and lead from the front as witnessed in the recent match, wherein he scored 60 off 47 balls to give the required impetus to the chase. Robin Uthappa is also performing well, continuing his good form with the bat and he posted a well-made 46 off 34 deliveries to partner with his captain and take the side to their second victory. The team is well-balanced with specialist bowlers and established batsmen like Yusuf Pathan and Ryan ten Doeschate amongst others down the order; this is a formidable force to reckon with when it comes to the T20 format of the game.
Behrendorff, Arafat and Joel Paris struck at regular intervals to demolish the Dolphins’ top order while they were toiling to get the runs on board in the first innings; Paris with 2-21 removed hard-hitting batsmen like Chetty and Morne van Wyk and Behrendorff took 3 wickets to squash any efforts of the middle order to revive their innings. Arafat’s 2 wicket haul was handy towards the end as they restricted Dolphins to 164 runs, which the batsmen achieved easily with the combined efforts of Simmons, Whiteman and Marsh. While Simmons missed out on his half-century by 2 runs, he posted a 55-run stand with Whiteman for the 2nd wicket; Marsh scored an unbeaten 40 off 26 balls to post a 49-run stand with Whiteman, who made 45 off 32 balls. Adam Voges couldn’t score many runs but played the role of the captain to perfection, motivating the players to give their best and emerge victorious in their first outing. This team can deliver under tough conditions and they need to be prepared for KKR’s bowling brigade on Wednesday and come out stronger.
Scorchers are a tough side, who do well even under pressure; however, they would need something special to thwart the strategies of KKR and emerge victorious. KKR, on the other hand has scored two consecutive wins and their determination seems to get stronger by each passing match; though Scorchers will make it tough for them, we feel that KKR will once again come out right on top.
