One of the most exciting matches in this knockout stage of the Vijay Hazare Trophy is going to be played between Karanataka and Kerela. They have been dominant against almost every single opponent that they have come across and played an exciting brand of cricket.
There are a number of players that are on the fringe of national team selection or those that were a part of the setup till very recently. The Vijay Hazare Trophy is the perfect opportunity for them to make a statement to the selectors.
Both Karnataka and Kerela have won four out of the five matches that they played in the group stage. Incidentally, Karnataka won the previous match that they played against each other by a resounding nine wickets.
Still, we believe no team would want to come across Kerela in the knockout stage of the tournament.
Karnataka vs Kerela Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021 is going to be played at the Palam A Stadium, Delhi on the 8th of March 2021.
Everyone is going to be keen to see if Devdutt Padikkal is able to continue his brilliant form at the top of the batting order for Karnataka. He scored 145 from just 125 deliveries with nine sixes in the previous game he played. That is a lot of hits over the boundary and shows that this hugely talented young man is only getting stronger.
With Ravikumar Samarth also in good form, Karun Nair, Sharath BR, and Krishnamurthy Siddharth in the lineup, Karnataka has a lot of batting depth at its disposal.
The risk is that it may be a bit too dependent on Devdutt Padikkal at the moment and could struggle if he gets out early.
Abhimanyu Mithun is going to lead the bowling lineup alongside Shreyas Gopal, Prasiddh Krishna, and Jagadish Suchith. This one of the top bowling lineups in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and is going to give a tough time to all of the Kerela batsmen.
If Krishna and Mithun can get some early wickets, they may just end up winning the match for their team.
Prasidh Krishna, Krishnamurthy Siddharth, Ronit More, Ravikumar Samarth, Krishnappa Gowtham, Devdutt Padikal, Shreyas Gopal, Manish Pandey, Karun Nair, Vyshak Vijaykumar, BR Sharath.
There is no team in the Vijay Hazare Trophy that is more exciting than Kerela. Yes, their methods may fail from time to time but on most occasions, they just threaten to take the game away from the opposition completely with some outrageous hitting.
Robin Uthappa, Sanju Samson, Vishnu Vinod, and Mohammad Azharuddeen are all excellent strikers of the cricket ball. Just see the previous match in which Kerela scored 149 in under nine overs with 16 sixes. That is almost two sixes every over!
This is why we believe no team will want to come across Kerela because it is a very dangerous opponent.
Jalaj Saxena, S Sreesanth, and MD Nidheesh are the leading bowlers for the team. Sreesanth has been getting some of his trademark swing and is picking up early wickets. His pace is not very high anymore but he is definitely a threat with the new ball.
This is a game in which the batsmen are going to dominate and so the bowling attack that suffers the least amount of damage will win!
Vathsal Sharma, Basil, Rohan Kunnummal, Mohammed Azharuddeen, Akshay Chandran, Vishnu Vinod, Sachin Baby, Jalaj Saxena, Sreesanth, RV Uthappa, Basil Thampi.
Teams have so far opted to bat first and that is something that they could do in this match too. Palam, though, can sometimes put up surfaces that are quite helpful to the bowlers early on and so losing the toss may not be a bad thing either.

The conditions in Palam are tailor-made for some big hitting. The outfield is small and the ball rockets along the outfield. If you hit a gap, you are likely to get a boundary. The pitch will be flat and should offer a decent amount of bounce to the players. That means that the fast bowlers are going to be able to get some help from the surface too if they bend their backs.
This is a tough one to call. Karnataka seems to be the more consistent team but Kerela has some tremendous firepower at its disposal. Devdutt Padikkal is in great form and just seems to be made for this format but you cannot discount the likes of Robin Uthappa and Sanju Samson either.
We think a high-scoring match in which Kerela will just edge the contest is likely.
Bet on Kerela to win.
