The second semi-final of the Vijay Hazare Trophy is the match that everyone has been waiting for. Two teams that are led by two of the most promising batsmen in Indian cricket are going to go head to head in this match.
Karnataka will be hoping that Devdutt Padikkal keeps his incredible run-scoring spree going while Mumbai is going to bank on more brilliance from Prithvi Shaw. It is not just about these two, though. There are a lot of other players that you would want to watch out for in this match.
This is the blockbuster that we have all been waiting for!
Karnataka vs Mumbai Vijay Hazare trophy 2021 is going to be played at the Palam A Stadium, New Delhi on the 11th of March 2021.
Devdutt Padikkal and R Samarth are scoring centuries like batsmen take singles! They just reel them off match after match and are in just some incredible form. Padikkal has four consecutive centuries in the Vijay Hazare Trophy now. It is going to be very difficult to stop these two batsmen from making an impact once again.
As a bettor, though, you have to question the improbable. What happens if Padikkal finally falls prey to the law of averages and gets out cheaply? What is R Samarth chops one on to his stumps cheaply? Does Karanataka have the batting to still challenge Mumbai?
Manish Pandey would certainly want to think so. He has been knocked back in the scheme of things when it comes to the Indian team and would want to make a big statement. The same is the case with Karun Nair.
With players like K Gowtham, Sharath BR, and Siddharth in the lineup, Karnataka certainly has a lot of depth to call upon.
Prasiddh Krishna, Shreyas Gopal, and k Gowtham are the three leading bowlers of the team. They are all proven quantities that have represented their IPL teams with a lot of success. It was Ronit More, though, that ended up with five wickets in the previous match.
Karnataka is a very strong team with a number of match-winners and a couple of batsmen in insane form.
Krishnamurthy Siddharth, Ronit More, Ravikumar Samarth, Krishnappa Gowtham, Devdutt Padikal, Shreyas Gopal, Manish Pandey, Karun Nair, Vyshak Vijaykumar, BR Sharath, Prasidh Krishna.
Prithvi Shaw is a man on a mission. He has been left out of the Indian team, had a very poor IPL 2020, and seemed to have just lost confidence altogether. Now, however, he is smashing runs for fun and could have easily had two double centuries in the space of a few weeks!
He remained 185 not out while chasing down 285 with 21 fours and seven sixes to his name.
We think it is safe to say that he is going to come hard at the bowling in this match as well.
While Shaw’s high-risk approach is brilliant when it comes off, the risk of failure cannot be counted out. This is where we have to look at the supporting cast. Mumbai has Yashasvi Jaiswal, Aditya Tare, Sarfaraz Khan, and Shivam Dube in the batting lineup.
This is a very talented and mostly young set of players that are hungry to do well. We do think a good bowling attack can get the better of this lineup, though.
Mumbai’s bowling is not the strongest and this is where its weakness may lie. Tushar Deshpande has been expensive in this tournament while the others like Mohit Avasthi, Shams Mulani, Shivam Dube, and Tanush Kotian have been average at best.
Prithvi Shaw’s form is covering up some clear flaws in the Mumbai lineup.
Dhawal Kulkarni, Shivam Dube, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Aman Hakim Khan, Tanush Kotian, Tushar Deshpande, Shams Mulani, Sarfaraz Khan, Prithvi Shaw, Prashant Solanki, Aditya Tare.
The team that wins the toss is likely to want to bat first. Both teams are stronger batting teams and would back themselves to get a big score to set the platform for their bowlers.

The weather in Delhi is going to be good for cricket and no rain is predicted. The pitch at Palam A is an absolute road. It is flat, the bal comes on nicely, and absolutely flies to the boundary on a fast outfield.
There are runs to be had and both teams have the batsmen to exploit these conditions.
We think a score of around 300-320 is the minimum both teams would be aiming for batting first.
We are going to back a slight upset in this match and put our money on Karnataka to win. Devdutt Padikkal leads a very strong batting lineup while the bowling also seems to be a bit superior to what Mumbai possesses. The experience in the Karnataka lineup is quite significant as well.
Bet on Karnataka to win.
