Karnataka

Karnataka played Uttarakhand in the second quarterfinal of the Ranji Trophy for the 2023 season. They beat Uttarakhand by a margin of an inning and 281 runs to reach the semi-final stage of the competition. Shreyas Gopal for his all-around effort in the game picked up the player of the match award. He scored an unbeaten 161-run inning and also took 3 wickets for 26 runs in the game. The Uttarakhand first innings folded pretty quickly at 116 runs and although they did marginally better in the second, they were bowled out for 209 runs.

The pick of the bowlers for Karnataka in the first innings was M Venkatesh. He picked up a fifer for 36 runs and was the damager in chief for the Karnataka side. He was helped in the cause by the likes of Vidwath Kaverappa and Krishnappa Gowtham who picked up 2 wickets giving away 17 and 22 runs respectively. Vijaykumar Vyshak was also in action with the ball picking up 1 wicket for 25 runs in the game. All the four bowlers used by Karnataka in the Uttarakhand inning were among the wickets.

Karnataka batted only once in the match and amassed 606 runs during their batting effort. Everybody from their top order contributed toward the Karnataka inning. They got off to a fantastic start with Ravikumar Samarth and Mayank Agarwal scoring 82 and 83 runs respectively. Devdutta Padikkal who followed the openers in the number 3 position also scored a half-century. This was followed by Nikin Jose and Manish Pandey who also contributed toward the score. But it was Shreyas Gopal who scored a brilliant hundred to take the score beyond any realms of the Uttarakhand team.

Saurashtra

Saurashtra played against Punjab in the 3rd quarterfinal of the Ranji Trophy for the 2023 season. It was a close game of cricket and Saurashtra came out trumps in the match with a 71-run win over their opponents. Parth Bhut was declared player of the match for his all-round performance with bat and ball. He scored a hundred in the Saurashtra first innings and hit a fifty in the second. He also picked up 8 wickets in the match with a fifer in the second. Punjab did get the first-innings lead in the game but could not deliver the goods in the fourth innings of the match.

The Saurashtra team scored 303 runs in their first innings. Parth Bhut scored a brilliant hundred lower down the order. He scored 111 runs from 155 balls with 4 sixes and 11 fours. Snell Patel also scored a good 70 at the top of the order for Saurashtra to help the innings along. Punjab made a brilliant start to their campaign with both their openers scoring hundreds to set up the innings nicely. Dharmendrasinh Jadeja was the top bowler for Saurashtra with 5 wickets for 109 runs from his 41.3 overs. He was helped in the cause by Yuvrajsinh Dodiya and Parth Bhut who picked up 2 and 3 wickets apiece.

Saurashtra's second innings was also a decent effort with many of their middle-order batters contributing toward the total. Arpit Vasavada and Chirag Jani scored 77 runs apiece and this effort was followed by Prerak Mankad who hit 88 runs from 137 balls. Parth Bhut followed his hundred in the first innings with another fifty in the second. Saurashtra put together a total of 379 runs on the board in the second innings. The Punjab second innings collapsed and Parth Bhut was against the main destroyer for them with 5 wickets for 89 runs.
