IPL 2019 has really come to life with some excellent matches in the last few days. There has been plenty of controversies as well with mankads and missed no-balls being the talk of the town. Two teams which have been right at the center of it all are going to be taking on each other in this match. Kings XI Punjab is going to be playing its first home game at Chandigarh against the Mumbai Indians.
Both teams have won one match and lost one right now. That is a pretty fair result for the kind of performances they have put in and there is plenty of room for improvement. Chandigarh usually throws up an excellent cricket wicket and so we are expecting to see another nail-biter in this encounter.
Kings XI Punjab made headlines in the first match thanks to Ashwin’s mankad of Jos Buttler and so it was ironic when Ashwin forgot to keep four fielders inside the 30-yard circle. As a result, Mohammad Shami’s brilliant yorker to bowl out Andre Russell was of no use.
Andre Russell then proceeded to hit eight consecutive boundaries (five of which were sixes) to take the game beyond Kings XI.
While some may look at it as poetic justice, a closer look must be taken at the death over bowling that Kings XI has. Andrew Tye, Mohammad Shami, and Hardus Viljoen missed their mark regularly under pressure and that is something that is going to be worrisome for the Kings XI side.
Ashwin himself went for 47 off his four overs while Varun Chakravarthy had an underwhelming debut to give away 35 runs from his three.
All things considered, it was a poor bowling performance and we thought Hardus Viljoen was the only bowler to come out well from that.
Ashwin loves to make changes to his side and we are certain we will see at least another couple in this next match against the Mumbai Indians. Playing Varun Chakravarthy again is going to be a huge risk. It forced Ashwin to give one over to Mandeep Singh in the last match and that went for 18 runs as well.
We think Murugan Ashwin could get a chance or Ankit Rajpoot could make a comeback into the side.
The overseas players look set too. Viljoen and Tye did reasonably well before coming up against Andre Russell while there is no changing David Miller or Chris Gayle.
The two biggest things that Kings XI need now are for Lokesh Rahul to get some runs and Ravichandran Ashwin to find some bowling form.
Lokesh Rahul, Chris Gayle, Mayank Agarwal, Sarfaraz Khan, David Miller, M Singh, Hardus Viljoen, Ravichandran Ashwin, Murugan Ashwin, Mohammed Shami, AJ Tye.
Mumbai was lucky to escape with a victory against the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Jasprit Bumrah, a man that was not supposed to be playing the previous match, went head to head with Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers and came out tops. It was an exceptional bowling performance that underlines his importance to any side that he plays for.
The Mumbai Indians bowling attack is looking very impressive with the return of Malinga. He may not have bowled well in the first match but can be expected to get better in the upcoming encounters. McClenaghan, Malinga, Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, and Mayank Markande make an international quality bowling lineup.
There is also Kieron Pollard as a 7th bowling option should the Mumbai Indians need him. This flexibility in the bowling lineup is in sharp contrast to the Kings XI Punjab side.
The Mumbai Indians batting is also very good. Rohit Sharma, Quinton de Kock, and Suryakumar Yadav make a good top-3. All three got runs in the previous match and can be very dangerous at the small Mohali stadium.
Yuvraj Singh has been playing with surprising freedom to give the middle order a dangerous look and we are still quite bullish on Kieron Pollard. He may have played a daft shot against RCB but his batting form has been brilliant this year.
With the Pandya brothers providing batting power till 7 in the lineup, the Mumbai Indians have a lot of depth to rely on. Perhaps a few early wickets could test this batting lineup but there is nothing that is glaringly wrong with it at the moment.
We don’t think the Mumbai Indians are going to make any changes to their team for this match unless there is some injury concern.
Quinton de Kock, Rohit Sharma, SA Yadav, Y Singh, Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, MJ Mcclenaghan, Mayank Markande, JJ Bumrah, Lasith Malinga.
Mohali is a difficult ground to defend on and that is why we believe that the team winning the toss is likely to want to field first

The IPL 2019 match between Kings Xi Punjab and the Mumbai Indians is going to be played at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali, Chandigarh. The weather forecast is excellent for match day and we don’t see any weather-related interruptions from happening.
The pitch in Mohali is excellent for batting. The ground is also small in dimensions and so plenty of runs should be scored. Matches between these two sides tend to be high scoring encounters with 174 being the lowest score in the last 8 completed innings.
We expect a score of around 180-190 to be par.
The Dream 11 picks for KXIP vs MI are based on the presumption that both these sides are going to play a high scoring match against each other. We will try and load the side with big hitters while balancing it with some value picks in the bowling department.
Wicket Keeper: We have picked Quinton de Kock as the wicketkeeper ahead of Lokesh Rahul. Both the batsmen are dangerous on a small ground and both open the batting. Quinton de Kock is in better form and we think he could end up scoring a century in this edition of the IPL.
Batsmen: There are a maximum of 5 batsmen allowed in the Dream 11 lineup and we have used up that quota. Rohit Sharma, Chris Gayle, David Miller, Kieron Pollard, and Yuvraj Singh are the players we have gone for. All of these batsmen are hard-hitting six hitters. They will accumulate points for every six that they hit, their high strike-rate, and they also have the ability to get big scores.
All-rounders: We have picked on Hardik Pandya from this category. he is going to bowl his full quota of overs and can hit a long ball whenever he gets a chance to bat.
Bowlers: Jasprit Bumrah, Hardus Viljoen, Andrew Tye, and Mayank Markande are the four bowlers we have picked for this match. The three fast bowlers are excellent death over specialists while Mayank Markande is a prolific wicket-taker as well.
Captain and Vice Captain: A captain gets twice the points while a vice-captain gets 1.5 times. Picking these correctly can make or break your game. We have gone de Kock as captain and Miller as vice-captain for this match sticking with the batsmen theme.
Both sides have a strong batting lineup but the bowling strength appears to be better for Mumbai Indians. The visitors also have the advantage of having more power in the lower middle order. We think the Mumbai Indians have an excellent chance of winning.
Back the Mumbai Indians to win.
