Losses for the Kings XI Punjab and the Sunrisers Hyderabad in their previous matches have meant that the IPL 2019 League table is looking a lot closer than it was just a few days ago. Both, Kings XI and Sunrisers, have three wins from five matches and are separated by just net run-rate.
Now, they will take on each other as SRH travels to Mohali and tried to end the winning streak for the home team at the venue.
Some weaknesses in both the sides are clear to see and the team which can better exploit them will emerge victorious. Mohali has served up some excellent cricket wickets in IPL 2019 so far and we have no reason to believe that it will be any different for this match.
Kings XI traveled to Chennai with some clear plans and seemed to be executing them very well. Ravi Ashwin took three wickets and was well supported by Murugan Ashwin as well. The problem for Kings XI seemed to emerge when their fast bowlers were on. Andrew Tye, Sam Curran, and Mohammad Shami all went for runs and ended up conceding a total which was too much for the Kings XI batsmen to chase down.
Ashwin is undoubtedly going to have a look at his bowling attack composition to try and tighten up during the powerplay as well as the final overs.
We think Andrew Tye could be replaced by Hardus Viljoen for this upcoming match.
The batting performance by the Kings XI team was also pretty ordinary. They had wickets in hand and two set batsmen but they left the acceleration too late. Lokesh Rahul and Sarfaraz Khan may have ended up with fifties to their name but they were nowhere near being match-winning knocks.
The Sunrisers Hyderabad have two of the highest scoring batsmen to lead their assault and Kings XI will have to be more proactive to be competitive.
Chris Gayle is fit and should play the next match as well. He missed out in the last match that Kings XI played at Mohali and that was a big loss. He averages close to 95 at matches that Kings XI have won at the venue.
The contest between Ashwin in David Warner at the top of the inning is also going to be one to watch out for. Ashwin has an excellent record against left-handers and will back himself to get Warner early. If he does, then the winning streak of 8 matches for the Kings Xi could well continue.
Lokesh Rahul, Chris Gayle, Mayank Agarwal, Sarfaraz Khan, David Miller, M Singh, Sam Curran, Ravichandran Ashwin, AS Rajpoot, Mohammed Shami, Mujeeb Ur Rahman.
The Sunrisers had gone into their last game against the Mumbai with a lot of momentum. David Warner and Jonny Bairstow’s form had made their batting look very strong backed up by a bowling attack that was doing what was expected of them.
Now, after a stunning loss to the Mumbai Indians while chasing a small total has changed things around. Sides across the IPL will know now that the Sunrisers are vulnerable after losing David Warner and Jonny Bairstow.
The batting order to follow these two is quite weak. Vijay Shankar, Manish Pandey, Deepak Hooda, and Yusuf Pathan are not going to put fear into any opposition. This is why we believe that the Sunrisers have to make the difficult call of dropping Mohammad Nabi for Kane Williamson.
If Williamson is not fit, then at the very least, one batting all-rounder needs to come in place for one of the misfiring middle order batsmen.
Traditionally, Sunrisers Hyderabad has been known as a strong bowling side but IPL 2019 has proved to be a bit different. Bhuvaneshwar Kumar is looking below his best, Sandeep Sharma is not getting the early wickets he once did and Siddharth Kaul is also going for runs.
This puts a lot of pressure on Rashid Khan and makes dropping Mohammad Nabi a bit more difficult as well.
We cannot see Sunrisers Hyderabad come into the next match without any changes. Tom Moody is a very astute coach and he would have recognized the problems surfacing in his team’s composition. Expect a new playing eleven for Sunrisers Hyderabad in Mohali.
David Warner, Jonny Bairstow, V Shankar, Manish Pandey, Deepak Hooda, YK Pathan, Mohammad Nabi, Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Siddarth Kaul, S Sharma.
The side winning the toss is likely to want to bat first. Both teams have had their troubles chasing and we think they may want to set a total in this match.

KXIP vs SRH IPL 2019 is going to be played at Mohali, Chandigarh. The weather is expected to remain clear on match day and we should not have any interruptions. The pitch at Mohali has been good for batting and most of the matches here are high scoring ones.
This is especially true of matches that being at 8 in the night local time. The ball just seems to come on to the bat better and is enjoyable to watch. 28 out of the 51 matches here have been won by the team chasing.
The highest score recorded here is 240 by Chennai. While we are not likely to see 240 being surpassed, 200 should be within reach for sure.
Mohali is a big ground and the spinners tend to be in the game here. It is also a good batting venue where some big scores have been hit.
Wicketkeeper: We had the option of choosing between Lokesh Rahul and Jonny Bairstow in this match. Both the wicketkeeper-batsmen are in good form and open the inning. We have decided to pick Jonny Bairstow for his tendency to hit runs at a faster strike rate.
Batsmen: David Warner, Chris Gayle, Mayank Aggarwal, and David Miller are the four batsmen we have picked for this match. Warner, Gayle, and Miller are big strikers who can clear the boundaries with ease. Mayank Aggarwal has looked in good touch and we think he is due for a big score as well.
All-Rounders: We have picked three all-rounders for our side. Vijay Shankar, Ravi Ashwin, and Sam Curran are the three players we have decided on. Shakar has been batting at number three while Ahswin and Curran are sure to bowl their full quota of overs.
Bowlers: We have space for three bowlers in our side now. Siddharth Kaul, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, and Murugan Ashwin look like a good fit for the conditions. The ball can swing under lights bringing Kumar and Kaul into play while Murugan Ashwin has been tough to score off in his last two matches.
Captain and Vice Captain: We have picked Chris Gayle and David Warner as Captain and Vice-Captain respectively.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad have beaten Kings XI in four out of the last five matches they have played against each other. Kings XI, on the other hand, have won their last seven matches at Mohali. These are two teams which are similar in some ways but very different in others. All things considered, we think that the Kings XI side at home is a formidable one to get past.
Back Kings XI Punjab to win.
