Going by the recent results in the Indian Premier League, we are certainly in for an enthralling finish to the group stage. It's going to be a tough spot for the top two positions at the ladder and the same is going to be the case for the fourth playoff spot. The teams played in the bottom half of the table are all in more or less in a do-or-die situation.
Kings XI Punjab exhibited a spectacular turnaround by winning three matches in a row and would want to continue to build on their form with a win in their upcoming match as well. They have a difficult task at their hands as they take on Sunrisers Hyderabad, who are coming fresh off a terrific win over the Royals from Rajasthan. Both sides are desperate for the two points and are expected to come out all guns blazing in this upcoming match, which is to be played at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai, on 24th October 2020.
Given that currently three teams are tied with eight points each, net run-rate is likely to play a pivotal role in determining the occupant of the fourth spot. Amongst all sides fighting for that fourth spot, Sunrisers Hyderabad have the best net run-rate and that can come in handy at the back-end of the tournament. Their recent win over Rajasthan Royals helped them massively with points as well as the net run-rate.
With Kane Williamson not available due to an injury, there were clouds of uncertainty over the Sunrisers' batting lineup and the early dismissals of David Warner and Jonny Bairstow only added those doubts. However, Manish Pandey and Vijay Shankar found form just at the right time as Sunrisers overhauled the Rajasthan's total without any further damage.
Just like Kings XI Punjab, Sunrisers Hyderabad have been pretty inconsistent in IPL 2020. They looked all set to have an easy back-end of the league stage after winning three of their first six matches, but they then lost their way. With many of their main players getting injured, the Sunrisers have never had a consistent playing eleven.
Their bowling has always been known to be their stronger suit, but we haven't seen that sharpness yet in the tournament. Jason Holder added a bit of depth to their bowling department and the experience Holder brings to the table should be immensely valuable going forward. Rashid Khan, as usual, has been brilliant and will undoubtedly be the key man with the ball for the Sunrisers.
With bowlers doing well in his last match and middle-order performing as well, the Sunrisers should go in pretty relieved in the upcoming match. On paper, the Sunrisers now seem to have a decent unit and shouldn't be an easy team to deal with in the upcoming fixture.
Lokesh Rahul, Mandeep Singh, Chris Gayle, Nicholas Pooran, Glenn Maxwell, Deepak Hooda, Chris Jordan, Murugan Ashwin, Ravi Bishnoi, Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh.
Had it not been for a few unfortunate matches, which Kings XI Punjab lost despite being in the driving seat, it would have been an easy way ahead for them. However, it was not to be. They did well to register consecutive wins against the top three teams of the competition so far and those wins should have imbibed plenty of confidence among the team.
The return of Chris Gayle seems to be paying rich dividends already and against a bowling attack that doesn't really have an express bowler, Chris Gayle could be a trump-card. Kings XI Punjab would also be happy with the way Glenn Maxwell played in the previous match. Although he failed to finish the match for the Kings, he scored enough to get back into the form and take Kings XI Punjab to a safe position. The fact that he has done pretty well with the ball adds to the team's depth.
On the bowling front as well, Kings XI Punjab seem to be doing pretty well of late. Mohammad Shami has been brilliant both in the powerplay and at the death. He bowled a terrific super-over in the game against Mumbai Indians and that over would have only added to his confidence. The other bowlers - Arshdeep Singh, Murugan Ashwin, and Ravi Bishnoi have been fantastic as well.
The recent changes that Kings XI Punjab made to their playing eleven appear to be working out pretty well. Their spinners have done exceedingly well and could prove to be a handful on the surface of Abu Dhabi in the upcoming contest. With almost everyone performing with the bat, including Pooran and Maxwell, and bowlers bowling in tight channels, this Kings XI Punjab team certainly cannot be taken lightly.
David Warner, Jonny Bairstow, Manish Pandey, V Shankar, Priyam Garg, Abdul Samad, Jason Holder, Rashid Khan, Khaleel Ahmed, S Sharma, T Natarajan.
At the beginning of the competition, the teams batting first here generally enjoyed the upper hand. Recently, that has changed largely because of dew having a major impact in the second half of the second innings. Also, all the captains are now increasingly preferring to bowl first. We expect the recent trend to prevail here as well and the captain winning the toss is expected to bowl first.

Abu Dhabi has undoubtedly been the most difficult to score at of the three venues in IPL. The surface hasn't changed much since the beginning of the competition and we have always seen middling totals score here. Although the ground has short straight boundaries, hitting straight here has been considerably difficult here due to the slowness of the surface. Besides, the side boundaries are huge here, and hitting fours and sixes will be tough. To the batsmen's assistance, dew is likely to play a big part in the second innings. Considering all those factors, the team batting first will need to put a total of at least 160 runs batting first. Needing to chase anything less than 150 should be a walk in the park for the chasing team.

Both sides are tied with eight points each, separated only by net run-rate. Both sides will consider this match as an opportunity to bolster their respective chances to qualify for the playoffs. Kings XI Punjab, having already played one match more than the Sunrisers, will be desperate for a win here. Their last three wins have come against the current top-three teams in the tournament and that speaks volumes about the turnaround the Kings have scripted. Even though Sunrisers seem to be a pretty balanced team, Kings XI Punjab have more firepower available at their disposal and with the momentum they have, the Kings from Punjab seem to be better placed to emerge on top in the upcoming contest.
This is more of a contra bet considering the nature of the surface, but with the form the batsmen of two sides are in, we might actually see a high-scoring contest. The match total of 325 is just around par for the match and we expect it to be breached. This certainly is a good bet considering the returns on offer.
Although KL Rahul didn't have a good time in the last game, he has inarguably been the best batsmen of the tournament. He currently holds the orange cap and has aggregated 540 runs at an average of 67.50. More often than not, he has converted his starts to big knocks. Betting on him to score a minimum of 30 runs in the upcoming match seems to be a pretty lucrative option.
Both teams have a settled opening pair and opening bowlers of both sides are likely to have a tough time. While KXIP have Mohammad Shami, who is in incredible form, Sunrisers Hyderabad lack a wicket-taking option upfront. In addition to that
It would be an understatement to say Manish Pandey helped SRH win their previous match. In fact, it was only because of Manish Pandey's blistering innings that Sunrisers Hyderabad raced past Royal's total without any fuss. Pandey seems to have found his touch after a poor patch and will like to build on it.
While Punjab's top-order looks more settled, Sunrisers Hyderabad have a more belligerent top-order. The likes of Jonny Bairstow and David Warner like to get on top of the bowling. Sunrisers Hyderabad adopted the aggressive route in the last match and are likely to continue to do so. They appear to be better placed to have the highest total after the first six overs.
