About the Match
The Kings 11 Punjab will finally move to their home ground to try and maintain the momentum they have built up in the tournament while the SUnrisers will be hoping to move out of third gear and into the kind of form that saw them lift the trophy last time around.
Kings 11 Punjab
The Kings 11 Punjab has performed much better than it did in the previous two years and a large part of that can be attributed to Glenn Maxwell’s captaincy. He has taken the initiative in making the changes to his team as well as making sure that he himself contributes to the team as a batsman as well.
Hashim Amla and Glenn Maxwell have been the standout batsmen for the Kings 11 this year and made up for the disappointing form of David Miller. We still think that changing up Stoinis for Martin Guptill will be the way to go but we will have to wait and see if that happens.
The other batsmen have not really contributed as regularly as required and only Manan Vohra managed to make a sizeable contribution, albeit, in a losing cause.
The bowling for the Kings 11 is a bit of a concern, especially now that they travel back to Mohali. The ground in Mohali is tiny and one of the most difficult ones to defend on. Only Axar Patel has bowled with some level of consistency for the Kings 11.
Most disappointing has been the form of Mohit Sharma, who completely seems to have gone off the boil in recent times. Sandeep Sharma, though, might enjoy returning back to Mohali because of the swing usually on offer in the first few overs.
The Sunrisers got some extra bit of time off because their last match was abandoned due to rain which they would not have been too pleased about because of the poor form RCB is in, but either way, they would love to get back into the thick of things with a win.
The batting for the Sunrisers has been lead by David Warner, currently, the third highest scorer in the league, although his strike rate has been strangely subdued as of now. We expect him to rectify that shortcoming in the coming games, especially now that Kane Williamson has found a permanent place in the starting eleven and thus strengthened the batting order.
Shikhar Dhawan too seems to have one eye on the Champions Trophy squad rather than just making the most of the powerplay but at least he is scoring some decent runs as well.
Moises Henriques, in our opinion, is the real batting star for the Sunrisers this season having scored 193 runs in 6 matches at a strike rate of 141.91. Yuvraj Singh down the order is struggling a bit after his 62 in the opening game but his presence makes the Sunrisers a dangerous unit.
The bowling for the Sunrisers is led by Bhuavneshwar Kumar, who has been the standout bowler of this tournament and Rashid Khan, whose ability take wickets in the middle overs is a huge asset. This SUnrisers are a very well rounded team that will challenge any other in most conditions.
Head To Head
The Sunrisers hold a 7-2 advantage over the Kings 11 and have won the last five matches played between the teams. They have also never lost at Mohali in three previous games.
The Sunrisers Hyderabad have enough quality to take on an in-form Kings 11 Punjab team. It should be a close game but one that the Sunrisers should emerge victorious from.
