Lancashire won an important match against Worcestershire in the previous match and ensured that it was going to finish the top of the table in the North Group. There are just two group matches remaining for most teams (just one for a couple of teams) and there are still a couple of places that are up for grabs.
Lancashire will be taking on Derbyshire in this match and the result is going to be much more important for Derbyshire than for the hosts. Derbyshire is in fourth place right now and will be playing its final group match. A win here will ensure that Northamptonshire and Durham cannot leapfrog it by winning their remaining matches.
Lancashire vs Derbyshire T20 Blast 2019 is going to be played at Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester on the 26th of August 2019.
Steven Croft saved his best of the tournament for late as he helped Lancashire dispatch the defending champions with ease. He made 94 runs off 55 balls and was helped by a few cameos along the way in an exhibition of batting dominance by Lancashire.
It was not something that was unexpected but for the side to be able to get well over 200 runs without major contributions from Liam Livingstone, Glenn Maxwell, Alex Davies, or Dane Vilas shows how much depth there is in the Lancashire batting lineup.
They are going to be facing Derbyshire in excellent form and we think they may want to experiment with their batting order and try and some new things out. There are so many batsmen in the side like Keaton Jennings and Dane Vilas that could bat higher up the order.
Either way, Lancashire’s batting is far stronger than Derbyshire’s.
Richard Gleeson had a tough day at the office in the previous match but Saqib Mahmood, Glenn Maxwell, and Liam Livingstone were enough to get them home. James Faulkner also went for a lot of runs and continued his poor form in the death overs.
The bowling is perhaps a bit weaker than Lancashire would have licked at this stage of the tournament.
Alex Davies, Liam Livingstone, Steven Croft, Glenn Maxwell, KK Jennings, DJ Vilas, James Faulkner, Josh Bohannon, Danny Lamb, Liam Hurt, Matt Parkinson.
An easy win against Leicestershire has helped Derbyshire a lot and a win in this match against Lancashire would ensure it is a part of the T20 Blast quarter-finals. The Derbyshire bowling did as well as could be expected against a weak batting lineup and restricted them to just 124.
All of the bowlers had economical figures to show with Matthew Critchley the standout. We don’t think they are going to have it as easy against the Lancashire batting might. There are more than a couple of bowlers that can be targeted and Derbyshire would be well aware of that.
It is not going to enough for just one or two bowlers to be consistent against Lancashire and the entire unit is going to have to bowl better than it has in previous matches.
Luis Reese, Billy Godelman, and Wayne Madsen are the batsmen that will decide Derbyshire’s fate. Leus de Plooy can also be counted upon as a lead batsman but it is the top-3 that will have to do the bulk of the scoring.
T20 cricket just needs one or two batsmen to start scoring freely and Derbyshire certainly has the batsmen to be able to do that. Whether they can do for long enough to outscore Lancashire is something we have to see.
Luis Reece, BA Godleman, WL Madsen, A Leus du Plooy, AL Hughes, MJJ Critchley, Fynn Hudson, D Smit, Anuj Dal, Logan van Beek, Ravi Rampaul.

Lancashire vs Derbyshire T20 Blast 2019 is going to be played at Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester on the 26th of August 2019. The weather forecast for Lancashire is good and we should have a sunny day in store for us.
The pitch at Old Trafford is excellent for batting and looking at the number of big-hitters in this match, we could have one high-scoring encounter on our hands.
We don’t think Derbyshire should be taken lightly but we also don’t think it has enough to be able to win this match. Lancashire’s batting is just too strong and the bowling is not bad either.
Bet on Lancashire to win.
