Lancashire was unable to play a single ball in its schedule opening match of the T20 Blast 2019 as rain played spoilsport and forced the match to be abandoned without even the toss taking place. They are now going to be against Durham, a side that won its first match quite convincingly.
Both the teams are quite strong on paper and we should have a cracking contest.
Lancashire vs Durham T20 Blast 2019 is going to be played Old Trafford, Manchester, on the 21st Of July 2019.
The venue for this match is usually an excellent batting ground. It was one of the few venues where scores of over 300 were consistently made in the World Cup where a concerted effort was made to make the pitches more bowler-friendly.
We were very excited to see Lancashire play their first match because of the T20 talent they have at their disposal. It does not make sense to worry about the players that are missing because of injuries like Liam Livingstone, Saqib Mahmood, and Tom Bailey because there is nothing to be gained from that.
It is, however, worth noting that players like Glenn Maxwell, Keaton Jennings, Dane Vilas, and Alex Davies are all going to be a part of the batting lineup in Lancashire.
This makes them a very strong team and capable of outscoring every single other team on its day.
We hope to see Glenn Maxwell take the next step in his batting evolution and actually become the consistent threat in T20 cricket that he has promised to be for quite some time now. This is the format that he is best suited for and with international ODI runs not coming that easily, Maxwell may have to start scoring runs to save his place in the national side.
The bowling is going to be led by James Faulkner alongside Matt Parkinson, Toby Lester, and Richard Gleeson. Faulkner has become more of a bowler rather than the all-rounder/finisher he made his name as but that is not to say his value to the team has decreased.
Lancashire will like playing at home and are going to be tough to beat.
Steven Croft, Alex Davies, Glenn Maxwell, KK Jennings, DJ Vilas, Josh Bohannon, James Faulkner, Danny Lamb, Richard Gleeson, Matt Parkinson, Toby Lester.
Durham disposed of Northamptonshire in the opening match thanks to a solid opening partnership and some useful contributions down the order. Darcy Short scored 46 and showed why he could one of the best buys for any county side this season of the T20 Blast.
He is an extremely consistent player and can score quite quickly without taking risks. He also has the big game to pull out as and when needed.
Scott Steel, Graham Clark, and the middle order all contributed to the cause and showed that the Durham batting lineup is pretty decent on its day. Darcy Short also took the most wickets, two, for any bowler in the Durham lineup.
His mix of left-arm leg-spinner sis very useful when he is able to get them on target. Ben Raine, Nathan Rimmington, and Matty Potts also did a great job with the ball and help Durham defend the target with ease.
The final winning margin of seven runs is more flattering to Northants than they actually deserved.
D'Arcy Short, Scott Steel, Graham Clark, Jack Burnham, Alex Lees, Ben Raine, Stuart Poynter, Liam Trevaskis, Brydon Carse, Matthew Potts, Nathan Rimmington.
The team winning the toss is likely to want to field first.

Lancashire vs Durham is going to be played at Old Trafford, Manchester, on the 21st of July. The weather is expected to be a bit cloudy and we could have some rain interruptions in this match as well.
The pitch at Old Trafford is going to be good for batting. The boundaries are quite large and help the spinners bowl with freedom.
We think that Lancashire is a strong side and it is going to take some serious performances to be able to beat it at home. Durham is a bit too dependent on Darcy Short and if he gets out early could stand exposed.
Bet on Lancashire to win.
