LAN vs LEI Match Prediction - Aug 30, 2019

We are finally down to the day we all were waiting for - the last day of league stage in Vitality T20 Blast. While the tussle is still on in the south group of the competition, the top four teams in the north group are locked, making all fixtures of this group virtually dead-rubbers including the match between Lancashire and Leicestershire. Although this upcoming match is of little significance for both the sides, they both will still want to register a win here. The match between the two teams mentioned above is set to be played at the iconic venue of Old Trafford Cricket Ground, Manchester, on 30th August.

LAN vs LEI Team Previews

Lancashire

Lancashire Lightning have been the best team in the North Group which is evident by their top of the table standing. In the tournament up until now, they've lost just a couple of games, and with seven wins behind them, they have 18 points to their name with a fantastic net run rate of +0.773. A win here would take them to 20 points, which will ascertain their top of the table finish.

Although Lancashire have had a terrific tournament thus far, they appeared to be stuttering a bit in the final leg of the tournament. They were undefeated in their first eight matches of the tournament, and both of their losses have come in their last five completed matches, against Birmingham Bears and Derbyshire Falcons.

They are coming into this match on the back of a heart-breaking loss to Derbyshire Falcons where they failed to chase down a relatively easy total. While their batting had been in the terrific form up until the last match, it indeed let them down against Derbyshire. Except for Liam Livingstone, who scored 58 off 36 deliveries, none of their batsmen looked settled and perished in a quest to score too many too quickly. They eventually fell short of Derbyshire's total by 11 runs.

Earlier with the ball, their bowlers looked good and kept the Falcons to a manageable total. Steven Croft was the pick of their bowlers as he returned with pretty food figures of 13 for 1 in his three overs. It was surprising to see skipper Dane Vilas not utilizing his full quota of four overs. All in all, Lancashire have had a pretty good tournament so far and will be looking to shrug off their last match as one-off defeat and move to the playoffs with a win and momentum behind them.

Lancashire Playing 11

Alex Davies, Liam Livingstone, Steven Croft, KK Jennings, Glenn Maxwell, DJ Vilas, James Faulkner, Josh Bohannon, Saqib Mahmood, Richard Gleeson, Matt Parkinson.

Leicestershire

Considering the kind of start the Foxes had to the tournament, they'd be pretty satisfied with the position they finished at the ladder. They are currently placed at the sixth spot at the ladder and a win in this upcoming match will push them to the fifth spot on the points table, though that will be inconsequential as well.

Having played 13 matches, the Foxes have registered a win in just four while they lost six of those. They are coming into this match on the back of a pretty poor run as they were defeated by Durham Jets, Nottinghamshire Outlaws, and then by Derbyshire Falcons, on the trot, in their previous three fixtures.

They were absolutely listless in both the departments of the game in their previous match, which was against the Falcons, wherein first, their batsmen failed to do anything which would worry the Falcons. Barring Mark Cosgrove, who compiled a beautiful 45-run knock before he was caught short by van Beek, only LJ Hill could reach the double figures. Leicestershire were fortunate not to get bowled out as ended up with 124 for 9 in 20 overs.

There was not a lot their bowlers could have done in defense of such a low score on an excellent surface to bat on and hence it happened. While their bowlers did well to contain Falcons' batsmen, their failure to pick up wickets resulted in a massive nine-wicket loss for them.

Leicestershire Playing 11

Mark Cosgrove, Harry Swindells, Arron Lilley, Colin Ackermann, Harry Dearden, Lewis Hill, Callum Parkinson, Ben Mike, Dieter Klein, Gavin Griffiths, WS Davis.

LAN vs LEI Betting Tips

The upcoming match might not carry massive importance as far as the points table is concerned, both the teams would still be looking to register a win here. A win for the Foxes would mean a bit of redemption for them whereas, for Lancashire Lightning, it would mean the shift of momentum back in their favor. Comparing the two sides on the basis of performance in the tournament so far, Lancashire Lightning are the clear favorites. On paper as well, the Lightning are a better side, and are, therefore our pick to emerge on top in the upcoming encounter.
