LEI vs DUR Team Previews

Leicestershire

The Royal London One Day Cup competition for the 2022 trophy is reaching the final phases of the league stage. In one of the games to be played tomorrow, Leicestershire will take on Durham. This will end a low-performance season for Durham. This match from the group stage of the competition will be played at the Grace Road venue in Leicester on 23rd August. Both these teams are going into this game with a loss in their last encounter. However, Leicestershire has a place in the knockout stages of the competition on the line.

In their last encounter, Leicestershire suffered a huge defeat at the hands of Nottinghamshire while playing at home. After their innings were curtailed to 47 overs, Notts put up a total of 255 runs on the board. For Leicestershire, Chris Wright bowled superbly to take 6 wickets for 35 runs. In their reply, Leicestershire lost 4 wickets in the first 6 overs for 12 runs. But Wiaan Mulder came to the rescue with a half-century to take his team's total to 154 runs. The Leicestershire side could not even play out 30 overs and lost the match by 105 runs. This has placed a damper on Leicestershire's prospects of qualifying for the next round of the competition. If they can beat Durham they can still qualify though.

The seven-wicket haul by Brett Hutton the Notts' fast bowlers kept away the prospects of Leicestershire of getting a place in the knockout stages. The top order problems for Leicestershire were exposed again. Their openers Rishi Patel and Nick Welch are yet to register a single fifty-run stand in the competition. Welch started the season brilliantly with a hundred in the first match. But he has managed just 54 runs in the subsequent six matches. Patel has managed 49 runs in 7 outings with 3 ducks. Luckily for the team, Louis Kimber is getting some runs at the top. He has scored 348 runs with an excellent average of 49.71. He has so far hit one hundred and four fifties.

The Leicestershire skipper Lewis Hill will have to repeat a match-winning performance if they lose early wickets. But the middle order looks secure with the great form Wiaan Mulder is in. The fast-bowling attack for Leicestershire will be led by Chris Wright. He is the leading wicket-taker for them with 13 wickets so far at a superb average of 19.15. However, none of the other speedsters have succeeded in making an impact for Leicestershire except Wright and Hendricks. Wiaan Mulder has also done well with 10 wickets.

Leicestershire Playing 11

Durham

In their last match, Durham could not chase down a medium-sized total of 276 runs set by Warwickshire in their last game at Edgbaston. Warwickshire reached a respectable total thanks to a century by Dom Sibley. The Durham bowlers made a terrific comeback and did a fine job in restricting the Warwickshire middle order. Graham Clark, the Durham opener hit a half-century in a chase however, did not get a lot of support from other batters. In the end, Durham was bowled out for 227 runs and lost the match by 48 runs.

The Durham campaign for this season is already finished. They could muster up just a single victory during this competition this year against Somerset. The Durham skipper Scott Borthwick has left nothing to gain from the match for his team. The Durham innings will be opened by Nick Maddison and Graham Clark. Clark is the leading run-getter for Durham with 277 runs at an average of 39.57. Clark hit back-to-back fifties in the last couple of games played by Durham. The failure of Maddison to get going has been one of the main reasons for Durham's woes this year. He could get only 136 runs from their 7 outings.

Liam Trevaskis and Sean Dickeson are the only alternatives available to Durham in their middle order. The all-rounder Trevaskis has been in great touch for Durham during this season with bat and ball both. He has collected 220 runs and 9 wickets thus far. He is also the most economical bowler for Durham this year. The fast-bowling attack for the side is led by Gibson with eleven wickets. But the fast-bowling attack remains a problem for Durham. Apart from Trevaskis and Gibson other bowlers have not done too well this season.

Durham Playing 11

Jonathan Bushnell, Mitchell Killeen, Stanley McAlindon, Tomas Mackintosh, Chris Rushworth, Graham Clark, George Drissell, Liam Trevaskis, Nic Maddinson, Paul Coughlin, Sean Dickson.

LEI vs DUR Betting Tips

Leicestershire has done a fair job this season with 5 victories from 7 matches.

This is one of the most potent displays by the team in the brief history of The Royal London One Day cup. Although the head-to-head between these two teams are in favor of Durham with 4 wins from 5 outings, they are badly struggling this season. They have managed just a single win. Not only that, they have lost their last 4 matches. This is also home turf for Leicestershire. They have won a couple of games here during the season. They batted first on both these occasions. So, we expect Leicestershire to win this game against Durham.
