About the Match
The Leicestershire Foxes will have to make most of their resources to get them going in a crucial group match against Durham Dynamos. The match would be played at Leicester on Friday, 5th July. The three time champions have struggled to get off to a decent start and this might be their last chance before the quarterfinals begin to look far away. Durham had change of fortunes in their second game as it won against Yorkshire after receiving a loss from Lancashire in the first game. Leicestershire Foxes would be keen to end their losing run in front of a packed house.
Leicestershire Foxes :
The Foxes have lost some experience as compared to teams in past few seasons. However, the arrival of Shakib al Hasan, who is ranked first in ICC all-rounder rankings, has certainly restored some of the lost exuberance. The poor batting form would be of great concern for their team management as they’ve lost both the matches due to poor bowling performance. They can consider themselves a little unlucky for their loss against Outlaws, but they were totally outclassed by Derbyshire in the first game. Their top order has got starts, but no one has been able to carry it on to play a big knock. Joshua Cobb and Joe Burns are in sweet form and can turn any game from any situation in their favor. With good enough bowling on paper, and excellent fantastic top-order form added to home advantage, the Foxes would be hard to outfox.
The message will be clear for Durham boys: Win this game and get closer to the knockouts. The Dynamos have already got a win against their game and they’ll be looking to get another one to get close to the quarterfinals. With Paul Collingwood and Phil Mustard in their side, they have plenty of experience in their batting order. To add to it, Ben Stokes’ hard-hitting skills and Mitchell McClenaghan’s pace and movement become an asset in English conditions. However, Paul Collingwood is injured and Dale Benkenstein is out has well which puts them in huge dilemma over captaincy. Their bowling attack seems fine with Kiwi quickie and Kabir Ali being experienced campaigners. Despite absence of a few big players, Durham Dynamos are still very tough to bowl to and win against.
The Foxes would still be searching for their first win in this all-important encounter to be played at their home ground. Durham Dynamos will be looking to build on the momentum by winning this game and adding two more points against their name. The Dynamos have powerful hitters at their disposal that can change the state of the match in the matter of minutes. The Foxes have cunning all-rounder in Shakib al Hasan and their top-order is in fabulous form. Familiarity with home conditions and crowd support helped by absence of a few key players from Dynamos lineup makes them the likelier team to register a win in this game.
