About the Match
It’s barely a fortnight since Friends Life T20 has started and the thoughts of being on the verge of elimination seem ridiculous. However, the above mentioned fact perfectly follows for Leicestershire Foxes. They’ll face Nottinghamshire Outlaws in their next game to be played on 12th July at Grace Road, Leicester. Leicestershire is lying at bottom of the North Group table and their opponents in this game, Nottinghamshire Outlaws, are perfectly placed at top of the table. Leicestershire will have to play out of their skins to register a win against table toppers to make sure they are truly in business as far as race to the title is concerned.
The three time title winners are struggling to get going in this year’s edition of FLT20 as they’ve all but one out of five games played. Leicestershire showed glimpses of their past form, but that subsided after they faced two back to back losses. The opening pair of Greg Smith and Joshua Cobb has done reasonably well, but batsmen in the middle order have failed to convert starts into competitive totals. Shakib al Hasan has been unable to justify his batting talent, but has done pretty well with the ball. Their bowling lineup looks good with the experience of Hoggard and al Hasan combined with Anthony Ireland. Leicestershire certainly have the talent at their disposal, but they haven’t been able to bring that on field. The Foxes might have looked out of sorts in this tournament thus far, but it would be a big mistake to underestimate them.
It’s a must win game for the Foxes if they have to claw their way back into the competition. Can they get past rampaging squad of Nottinghamshire Outlaws? The Outlaws have been one of the best team in the tournament, and beating them is going to be a daunting task. Their batting looks superb on paper and is in terrific touch. They have plenty of options with the ball and look well set there as well. It looks exactly opposite for the foxes as they’ve unable to do well collectively in all departments. Because of their and opposition’s form and team balance, I think Nottinghamshire Outlaws are going to win this game too.
