Tamil Nadu Premier League is gradually but surely picking up the pace. Half the sides have played two matches in the tournament and the other half only one. Lyca Kovai Kings will take on Dindigul Dragons in their upcoming game on 18th July 2018. The Dragons are currently placed at fourth spot with one win in two games. Lyca Kovai Kings, on the contrary, have played just one game and won that. They are just a spot behind Dindigul Dragons, but a win here will take them to top-spot combined with Ruby Trichy Warriors.
It was as close as it could get for Lyca Kovai Kings in this last encounter. Batting first, Idream Karaikudi Kaalai scored 162 runs. For Kovai Kings, MP Rajesh was the pick of their bowlers as he picked up three wickets and gave away 22 runs in his three overs. T Natrajan bowled economically upfront and dried up one end. He gave away only 19 runs in his four overs.
The Kings needed a fine start to overcome what was a challenging total on that surface. Shahrukh Khan and Abhinav Mukund and got Kovai Kings off to a splendid start. They scored over 60 runs in just 6 overs over before Shahrukh Khan departed with teams total of 62. It should have been easy going thereafter, but things got trickier towards the death overs. From 150 for 2 in 18.2 overs, they slipped to 161 for 6 in a matter of nine deliveries which allowed Karaikudi Kalai a sniff as the match went on to super over.
Playing first in the super over, Kovai Kings scored 14 in six deliveries. It needed a good effort from T Natrajan to keep Karaikudi Kalai from chasing this total. He executed his skills perfectly and allowed only 9 runs in his bowling.

Dindigul Dragons is one of the most popular sides of the competition, thanks to the presence of Ravichandran Ashwin in the playing eleven. Their first match was a close contest where they lost to Ruby Trichy Warriors defending 172.
They were clinical in their second match and left nothing for the opposition as they chased down the target with 9 wickets in hand. Chasing a total of 169 set by Siechem Madurai Panthers, they got off to a flying start before Hari Nishanth departed with 45 runs on board. It was all about N Jagadeesan and R Vivek after than as they whistled past the target in just 15 overs. R Vivek was the standout performer as he played a 70-run knock in just 33 deliveries. Jagadeesan played the sheet-anchor role perfectly and scored 68 runs in 42 balls.
Earlier, their bowlers did well to restrict Madurai Panthers to a modest 169-run total. Ravi Ashwin used all his skills and experience and dismissed three of their batsmen giving away only 25 runs in his four overs. However, apart from Ashwin, M Abhinav, and R Rohit, no bowler bowled accurately enough and ended up being a little expensive. However, it did not cost much as their batsmen were brilliant in the chase.

Dindigul Dragons lost to high-class batting performance in their first match but returned back to the winning ways with an equally impressive batting display. Their bowling is strengthened by Ravichandran Ashwin who was brilliant in the last game. With a better team on paper and superb performance in the last game, they go into their third game as firm favorites.
