Every team in the Pakistan Super League has played one match and it is easy to see why the PSL is rated so highly across the world. Almost every single match has been closely contested and there is no team that appears to be significantly weaker than the remaining group.
The Lahore Qalandars lost their opening match after being the dominant side for most of the game. It was a result that would have disappointed them but given them some hope of doing better in the upcoming games as well.
The Karachi Kings won their opening encounter and are going to be playing a second game less than 24 hours later. The Kings put in a strong batting performance and then withstood a spirited chase from the Multan Sultans.
An excellent start with the bat for the Lahore Qalandars fell away towards the end of their inning and even though they ended with a total of 171 in their previous game, it was not enough to get them the win.
Fakhar Zama started PSL 2019 with a cracking 65 off just 43 deliveries. He was the player responsible for getting the main thrust in the inning but fell while trying to clear the boundary for the fourth time.
If Fakhar Zaman can continue playing like this and get into some good form then the Lahore Qalandars are going to be very difficult to stop. We could not understand the reason for Mohammad Hafeez to come in at number 8 in the batting order. He should be opening the batting and making the most of his good form.
Sohail Akhtar opened the inning and played pretty well. We still think he could be better in the middle order, though.
AB de Villiers looked good during his brief stay in the middle and a lot more will be expected of him in this match. There is no better batsman than AB de Villiers in the PSL and it was great to see him bat in the top-3. There is no reason why he should bat any lower no matter what the match situation might be.
With players like Devcich, Brathwaite, and Brendan Taylor, there is plenty of batting depth in the side.
The bowling is also quite handy thanks to the presence of Rahat Ali, Shaheen Afridi, Carlos Brathwaite, Yasir Shah, Mohammad Hafiz, and Haris Rauf. Rahat Ali took four wickets in the previous game and showed just why he is one of the most successful bowlers of the PSL.
The Lahore Qalandars have a nicely balanced side and there is no reason to panic just now.
F Zaman, Sohail Akhtar, AB de Villiers, Anton Devcich, Mohammad Hafeez, BRM Taylor, Hardus Viljoen, Yasir Shah, Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, Rahat Ali.
The Karachi Kings are going to be extremely pleased with their performance in the opening match. Liam Livingstone and Babar Azam played brilliantly to put on 157 for the opening stand. Livingstone with 82 and Babar with 77 put their side on course for a total well in excess of 200.
As things turned out, the following players were only able to get single figures and the team ended on 183. The Karachi Kings batsmen must have been scared when the Multan Sultans started their chase because it looked like the Kings would end up 10-15 runs short.
Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim, though, not only bowled economically but took wickets to put the matter beyond the Multan Sultans. The two gave away only 47 runs in 8 overs between the two of them.
With Sohail Khan and Usman SHinwari in the side, the Karachi Kings have a lot of good bowling options to explore as well. Perhaps the only thing that the side is lacking is one quality spinner.
Babar Azam is rated as the best T20 batsmen in the world and he played like it in the first match. He has shown himself to be the most consistent batsman in T20 cricket and so the onus is really on Colin Ingram, Sikandar Raza, and Ravi Bopara to do their role and help the Karachi Kings have their best ever season of the PSL.
Liam Livingstone, Babar Azam, Colin Ingram, RS Bopara, Sikandar Raza, Mohammad Rizwan, SI Wasim, Mohammad Amir, Sohail Khan, Usman Khan, Umer Khan.

The Pakistan Super League 2019 match between the Lahore Qalandars and the Karachi Kings is going to be played at the Dubai International Stadium, Dubai. The weather is expected to clear and sunny on match day. There is no threat of rain.
The pitches at the Dubai International Stadium have been flat and excellent for batting. We suspect that they may start to become a bit slow as the PSL 2019 progresses, however, that has not happened up until now.
Another good batting wicket with plenty of runs in it for both the sides should be expected. The pitch remains exactly the same for the duration of the game and does not give the side winning the toss an unfair advantage.
The Karachi Kings have impressed with their performance in the first match. To be honest, the Lahore Qalandars seemed to be in the driving seat in the last match until they faltered at the end. Another close match is expected by we think that the Karachi Kings can continue winning in Pakistan Super League 2019.
Back the Karachi Kings to win.
