The third match of PSL 2020 is going to be played between the Lahore Qalandars and the Multan Sultans. Both these two teams have been a running joke in the PSL so far. None of them have ever managed to finish in the top half of the table and in fact, the Lahore Qalandars have been dead last in all the editions of the PSL they have competed in.
Can PSL 5 be any different or these two teams? With tougher matches to come, both the Lahore Qalandars and the Multan Sultans are going to be targeting a win in this match.
Lahore Qalandars vs Multan Sultans PSL 2020 is going to be played at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore on the 21st of February 2020.
The Lahore Qalandars have benefitted from having the first pick in the PSL draft every single time but that has not resulted in any sort of improvement to their results. This time again, the team has some promising players but some gaping holes in its batting exist.
Chris Lynn is the biggest name in the batting department. We have all seen Lynn score freely in the BBL and even the IPL but there is no doubt there exists a slight weakness against spin bowling. Mohammad Hafeez, Ben Dunk, Dane Vilas, Fakhar Zaman, and Salman Butt are some of the other batsmen in the squad.
Mohammad Hafeez is not as destructive as he used to be while Fakhar Zaman is too inconsistent for our liking. Ben Dunk tends to underachieve and this leaves Dane Vilas as a good value pick in the batting department.
The bowling is where the Lahore Qalandars really shine. Dilbar Hussain, Haris Rauf, Sheheen Afridi, and Usman Shinwari form an excellent bowling attack. There is no great spinner in the squad, though, and this is why Seekkuge Prasanna is likely to feature in the playing eleven.
Salman Butt is going to be under a lot of scrutiny as he tries to make amends for mistakes of the past and regain the love of the Pakistani people. Overall, though, The Lahore Qalandars are a bit weak in the batting department and their bowlers will have to do most of the heavy lifting.
Chris Lynn, F Zaman, Sohail Akhtar, DJ Vilas, Ben Dunk, Mohammad Hafeez, D Wiese, Shaheen Afridi, Usman Khan, Haris Rauf, Dilbar Hussain.
The Multans Sultans were never the side with most stacked squad and that is the case this time as well. The bowing attack of the Multan Sultans is filled with great bowlers well past their prime. Junaid Khan, Imran Tahir, Mohammad Irfan, and Sohail Tanvir can all stil have great days but not one of them is at the peak of his powers.
Shahid Afridi is the all-rounder of the side. He remains ageless and the manner in which he keeps going on is pretty remarkable but there is no doubt his star is on the wane as well.
James Vince, Rilee Rossouw, and Meen Ali are the three overseas T20 players that will have to lead from the frontto help the Multan Sultans get some consistent runs.
All three of the players are destructive at their best but also inconsistent.
The batting talent around these three is thin and there are not too many promising local players that we can see. This is a concern since we believe that T20 competitions like the PSL are won by teams that have a strong core of local players.
The Multan Sultans have a very experienced squad for PSL 5 but we fear they could find themselves short of some much needed zest on the field.
Shan Masood, J Vince, Rilee Rossouw, Moeen Ali, Imran Tahir, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Ilyas, Mohammad Irfan, SMSK Afridi, S Tanvir, Zeeshan Ashraf.

There was some rain around in Lahore but the forecast for match day is much better. There will be some clouds around and the humidity is also expected to be high. This could mean that there is some dew later on in the match which could play a part.
The pitch at the Gaddafi Stadium is not going to be as good as the one in Karachi is for batting. The bowlers will have more of a chance although the balance will still tilt towards the batsmen.

This is a tricky match to call before the first ball is even bowled. We don’t think either side has too strong of a batting lineup and the main thrust is going to be on the bowling. This is where the Lahore Qalandars could have a significant advantage.
We are sticking with the home team in this match as well.
Bet on the Lahore Qalandars to win.
