Peshawar Zalmi received a solid thrashing from the hands of the Quetta Gladiators in the previous match. That loss means that Peshawar Zalmi has relinquished the top spot in PSL 2019 for the moment and is within reach of Islamabad United as well. Finishing in the top-2 allows the teams to get a second chance of qualifying for the PSL final and that is a big advantage to have.
Peshawar Zalmi will be playing the Lahore Qalandars in this game who also suffered in their previous match against the Karachi Kings. The Lahore Qalandars have also received news that they are not going to be getting any further contribution from AB de Villiers who has bowed out for the remainder of the tournament.
The Lahore Qalandars are fourth on the PSL 2019 League table right now and that is just on the edge of qualification. They cannot afford many slip-ups from here and must try to win at least two out of their remaining three matches.
This is going to be the first match that the Lahore Qalandars play in Abu Dhabi in PSL 2019 while their opponents, Peshawar Zalmi, have already played a game. That is something to consider while evaluating this game and could end up having a big impact down the line.
Without AB de Villiers in the middle, we don’t quite like the look of the Lahore Qalandars batting lineup. They are far too dependent on Fakhar Zaman at the top of the order to have an impact and he is just not consistent enough to be able to carry this side.
Haris Sohail, Corey Anderson, Sohail Akhtar, and David Wiese are not the kind of players that are going to win you too many matches off their own bat. Haris Sohail has a good domestic record but appears to be a limited batsman that is not quite cut out for T20 cricket while Corey Anderson and David Wiese don’t enjoy the conditions in the UAE very much.
If anything, we like the look of Sohail Akhtar to be able to make an impact of given a chance up the order.
The bowling is slightly better with Yasir Shah and Haris Rauf in the side. Yasir Shah is an underrated T20 bowler and Haris Rauf is easily among the best new fast bowlers that we have witnessed this season. Sandeep Lamichhane has also had a good PSL 2019 till now and can be looked towards to get some wickets.
Overall, though, the Lahore Qalandars were not the strongest side, to begin with, and appear to be quite ordinary without AB de Villiers in the lineup.
F Zaman, Anton Devcich, Haris Sohail, RN ten Doeschate, Sohail Akhtar, D Wiese, U Masood, Rahat Ali, Shaheen Afridi, Sandeep Lamichhane, Haris Rauf.
This will be the second match for Peshawar Zalmi in the span of 24 hours, something that is done quite commonly in the Pakistan Super League. Peshawar Zalmi may have lost the previous match against the Quetta Gladiators but we believe they made of right moves which will pay dividends in the near future.
Kamran Akmal got some runs and looked very fluent towards the end of his inning. Akmal is a strange enigma who appears to be an excellent batsman at this level of cricket but does not quite fit into international cricket either. Still, he is someone who can get on a scoring spree once he hits form.
Peshawar Zalmi also promoted Kieron Pollard to number four in the batting order, something that should be done no matter what the situation. Pollard has been in excellent touch this PSL and has in fact been batting well for quite some time. His biggest problem is being pigeonholed as a slogger that cannot face more than a few deliveries.
Kieron Pollard is definitely one player that we would recommend backing in this contest.
With players like Imam, Sammy, and Umar Amin in the batting side as well, Peshawar Zalmi is a far stronger side than the Lahore Qalandars when it comes to the batting.
The bowlers did not have a very good outing in the previous match as Shane Watson took them to the cleaners. They should be much more effective against a weaker Lahore Qalandars batting lineup, though.
Hasan Ali, Wahab Riaz, Liam Dawson, Kieron Pollard, and Umaid Asif make for a very decent bowling lineup. Umaid Asif may have given 46 runs in his previous match but he is someone worth persisting with in the long run.
Peshawar Zalmi will definitely be targeting an easy win in this match.
Kamran Akmal, Imam-ul-Haq, Misbah-ul-Haq, Umar Amin, LA Dawson, Kieron Pollard, DJG Sammy, Wahab Riaz, Hasan Ali, TS Mills, Sameen Gul.

The PSL 2019 match between the Lahore Qalandars and Peshawar Zalmi is going to be played at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi. The weather is not expected to be an issue during this match. The pitch at Abu Dhabi has been ab it disappointing. It is not the easiest to score off and has been quite slow.
The short size of the boundaries makes it easier for the big hitters to clear the boundaries and so the overall scores still remain pretty high.
Something around 165-170 should be considered a par total at this ground.
The Lahore Qalandars have lost their last five matches against Peshawar Zalmi including the one they played earlier in PSL 2019. We don’t see them stopping this run of defeats in this match either. The Lahore Qalandars are outclassed when it comes to the batting and the Peshawar Zalmi bowling attack also looks a bit better in comparison.
Back Peshawar Zalmi to win.
